Bell SGS unlock codes available here for $26 I believe:

Well my SGS bit the bullet today. It's been hard locking about 2-3 times a day since I got it.. today it hard locked while sleeping and now it won't boot up. I guess I got a faulty one... I'll be going into Futureshop tomorrow to exchange it.
I don't know if I'm going to get another SGS or an iPhone 4. I really like the SGS but the issues I've been having makes me hesitant at best.
Does anybody know how to hard reset the phone on bootup?

What cases are you guys using? I want to order some right now. Also I don't really want to wait for a screen protector, so is there something available I can cut or that fits?
Here you go:

Looks like you got a faulty one - I wouldn't give up on the Galaxy yet - it is the most powerful phone on the market and Android OS has gained a lot of momentum. I see it surpassing iOS for apps in the not too distant future.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Samsung is releasing a free update to Android 2.2 (froyo) in the next couple of months - I've upgraded a different phone from 2.1 to 2.2 and the performance gains are substantial.
cheers.
Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this didn't work. Apparently Bell has locked out any recovery options on the SGS for usWe're the only SGS owners in the world that can't access recovery options. Thanks Bell.
I tried calling Samsung to see if they knew any workarounds but their reps speak zero English. I actually had to apologize to the guy that I could not understand a word he said and hung up. I've never done that before.
By recovery options do you mean the Power + Vol up + Home button to get to the bootloader screen? That works for me - there is a discussion on XDA Developers about this and it seems there are a few people who can't get into this menu but seems like most can - folks are trying to determine if it's a timing issue (holding down the buttons etc) but not sure.
Best to just return and get a newer phone if you are having these issues.
cheers.
i dont plan on getting a case or a protector.

our phone has a beautiful screen and it looks like it will stay that way over the months/years.
I just got my Galaxy S on Friday morning (the store had only two of them) and I love this device. I took it on a P.E.I trip with my family and it was really good. The Pics I took with it are amazing for a phone and it held up well with the battery. I had to buy a Iphone case for it as there were no other's out there that would fit (it's a Harley Davidson one)
Now, I gotta tell ya...I'm new to Android and I just could NOT figure out why the GPS didn't work. All the GPS type apps that are on the phone, Navigator, Places, Google Maps, etc,...the GPS didn't work on it. Well, I guess I forgot to turn the wireless on in the settings. Fixed it up really nice. GPS works flawlessly now.
I downloaded Handcent for SMS which works very good and a few other apps, slacker radio, 3banana, the weather newtork app, talking tom (FUN Mindless Game) and it's been pretty cool. I am very happy with it and would definately tell anyone to buy it.
Which apn does Bell have this phone setup to use by default?
Samsung Vibrant or Google Nexus 1?
