Yeah, a single session with a lawyer will be far more than the $72 you'd pay over the entire 3 year contract.

good luck with that since its clearly stated in the Terms of services that they reserve the right to add any fees such as this as long as they give you 30 days notice.

Just because it states it in the contract does not make it legal. Look how Telus is giving us a $31 refund for overcharging us.

On landline service Telus is refunding customers due to collecting too much money for the rural infrastructure funding.

We think everyone should be able to afford a wireless phone. That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

Certainly, no biller would attach a pdf of the invoice to the e-mail as that would expose way too much personal information and violate a number of federal and provincial laws. E-mail is not secure for sending a bill that has account numbers and other personal information that could be used to steal identities and/or access accounts.

FWIW, I have been on e-billing for all my credit cards and utilities for several years now and love the space it saves, even as someone who must keep records for CRA. I simply save a PDF of the invoice on my computer and another backed-up offsite. Anyone who is operating a business (why else would one save invoices for CRA) and who isn't backing-up data off-site doesn't have an adequate security plan in place and should be rethinking that strategy. As for remembering to pay the bill, well that's my responsibility and I doubt it would be enhanced by having a pile of papers on my desk.

It costs more than $2 to print and mail an invoice in Canada. My bank charges more for a paper statement. Why not my utilities? Why should those of us who have "done the right thing" for the environment, etc. have to subsidize those languishing in the last century. Whatever it costs Telus to operate its business is ultimately reflected in what we pay. Arguing for paper bills is advocating for higher cell phone bills.
I just noticed it now, but in looking back on my old emails, TELUS finally started including the invoice amount in the email as of September '11. Maybe it's time for my mom to stop paying $2/month!

Good ol' fashioned TELUS Mobility nickle and dime. I'm a paperless guy myself, however if this bothered me I'd call up retention and make them refund my money plain and simple.
