a few generic Android OS questions - don't know what these settings are

What's "call barring" ? Blocking calls? What's the call barring password?

are there good stolen phone apps, like with tracking? like that iPhone thing...

    what's "credentials storage"

    what's "cell broadcast"

Lastly, the Legend doesn't have a voice to text button on the keyboard like other 2.1 phones I've seen.

Is the phone any less capable than the other phones for doing that? Is the button just missing? Why? What can I do?

Honestly I don't really know what these are. They on the other hand, don't seem important.

I notice my Droid Eris HTC keyboard doesn't have the voice input either. Many other Android phones that come with manufacturer supplied keyboard software don't either. So far the voice to input text thing appears on the Nexus One keyboard.

I have seen in reviews it is on other HTC Sense phones like the Droid Incredible and EVO 4G, and other phones like Motorola Droid X

All it took was 5 seconds, and a google search to find most of the "setting" questions you asked - http://www.mobiledia.com/glossary/45.html

are there good stolen phone apps, like with tracking? like that iPhone thing...
If you mean "cracked" applications...this is a grey area here and shouldn't be talked about unless you want to get banned

Lastly, the Legend doesn't have a voice to text button on the keyboard like other 2.1 phones I've seen.
Go to XDA...and search for the modified voice-to-text keyboard apk.

he meant apps that track your phone if you lose it. there are 2 great ones, wavesecure and mobiledefense. i use mobile defense, got in when it was free, and now its closed to the publilc. it rocks.

wavesecure was also free but now its a paid app, i never tried it though.

mobile defense lets you use a computer to log into their website, and you can track your phone anywhere it is with the phone's GPS. and you can even remotely wipe the phone i believe, at least i think wavesecure has that function for sure.

wavesecure is a free app on the market - or do you need to use the different paid version or pay them or something to get full functionality?

call barring - I figured it out too, but it was the password thing I'm not clear on. Apparently it's SIM specific and I can only get from my provider?

HTC says the Legend's processor isn't as capable as the higher end phones at doing voice to text, which is why they left it off the keyboard

i think maybe wavesecure is a free 14 day trial. it sucks because when both these apps were new it was fully free, and we all got in early and have full access it seems. i had no idea they were gonna take away full funtion from the free users.

Ok sorry about the "cracked" applications comment. Glad to know Roger helped out.
