before i took back the t401g i had i wrote down the phones meid# and sim#..the sim was 89014103213126668490...so now we no its AT&T..
i looked at 10 or 15 phone this morning at walmart and didnt see any of those numbers on the box. I like how net 10 did it with t5 for tmobile and c4 for at&t
What exactly is the appeal of GSM/AT&T Straight Talk? Are there really that many people who live in an area with no native verizon or poor verizon coverage? AT&T's coverage is relatively poor compared to Verizon's so I'm confused about all the interest in what is essentially a downgrade.
I live out in the boonies. Only decent service i have out here is AT&T and Sprint. Verizon even roams on Sprint here at my house. Even Tmobile picks up better than Verizon here! LOL. Im tempted to try the GSM ST service out.
Adding to the list of places AT&T is better than Verizon - Stevinson, CA. Great AT&T service, almost no Verizon signal. In fact, as a general rule, this seems true of much of central Cali...
Also, almost everywhere AT&T is buying the Alltel network will be better than Verizon once AT&T finishes network conversion so there's actually AT&T service.
More of my thoughts and opinions on can be found on my blog. I also love face painting. Finally, I like to post photos on Flickr. Smilez, Mark.

No T5/C4 could be an indication that AT&T may have received exclusive rights as the GSM primary provider. But is unannounced roaming allowed like on Tracfone/Net10, which would actually make AT&T look even better as far as the preceived coverage goes (AT&T getting all the credit).

On a Tracfone/Net10 SIM card you will see "TF64SIMC4" written above the S/N. If you see this on yours it will be a possible indication of interchangability between the three brands of phones.

Your right, but net10 and tracfones used to have that number on the outside of the package by the barcode so you could look for it before you bought the phone.

But if AT&T is the exclusive GSM ST provider, there is no need for the C4 to be shown.

Sorry did not know at&t was exclusive. Cool i will pick up the 401g. I was wondering, alot of samsungs have asending ringtones that go fron quiet to loud. Does the 401g do that.

So far it ONLY APPEARS that AT&T is the exclusive provider. It is too early for this to have been confirmed.
The only way to confirm the carrier at this time is to see the actual SIM card or its S/N.
Anyone else have a suggestion?
I apologize if this is answered but a quick search of the thread didn't turn anything up.
At my local Walmart they are selling a Net10 T401G with accessories for $70. The same phone with no accessories is $110 for Straight Talk. The obvious question is can I buy that Net10 phone and activate it on Straight Talk?

Sorry, No, it cannot be done. The main reason you cannot get away with activating a Net10 is that ST knows the S/N of all ST branded phones and will activate no others.
