The LG 620G is quite a bit faster browsing then the T401G, but the phone itself needs more memory and you get an out of memory error quite often and then the browser exits.
Verizon (CDMA) does NOT necessarily have the best reception coverage in all areas; in some areas ATT (GSM) has the better coverage. THAT is why ST is now offering service on BOTH networks. Also, it's up to you the consumer to decide which service phone type you want to buy, so DO YOUR HOMEWORK re coverage on the two networks BEFORE you purchase a ST phone!!!

Dont forget T-mobile. They dont just have Verizon and AT&T.
Hi guy, just thought I would post my first impressions of this phone. Maybe this will help you guys that are on the fence in buying this one.
Overall, soldily built phone.
Seems to work fine for vocie and texting.
I like getting to my VM w/o having to enter a password each time like the verizon phone VM.
Browsing is very fast!
Now for what I don't like:
Porting from an existing ATT phone number has been "fun". When I finally got it activated, the old ATT phone will still make calls, and get to my VM. Could jsut be timing, but wierd.
Music - took a 4GB micro SD fine, and then I loaded it doewn with music. The player is terrible. Cant imagine a worse player.
Music - Needs proprietary headset ---- seriously?
Browser - Can't get it to save passwords in gmail or facebook. This means typing it in, each and every time, and input to web pages on this is so antiquated compared to my Blackberry. (Actually spent 3 hrs on with support on this, and they are clueless.
I think I could live with this guy, if I could get another browser on it, but I can't for he life of me figure how to get Opera or Bolt to work. They will DL, but run somehow run outside the WAP, so they are worthless.
Hope some of this helps before you buy this phone.
Hey everyone! I've been reading quite a bit on this thread and this message board is BY FAR the most useful with this situation. I have been thinking of the idea of using an Iphone with ST but it seems it can't be done?
I have the SGH-T401G if anyone wants any pics of anything I'll be glad to share if we can get to the bottom of this issue with getting a ST sim to work in another phone such as an iPhone. I'm a tech major and would love to figure this out.
Ive been looking for unlock codes or anything to mess with anything. Particularly the stupid wallpapers. The resolution is 176x220 but when you open the slider your image has black bars on the side so then I thought to use 220x220 and it would just work both ways. NOT THE CASE... so theres something going on internally.
I was not able to get my SAM M300 data USB cable to work with Samsung PC Studio 3 or 7... nor was I able to get that program to work with my computer and my phone via Bluetooth. I also can not get TK File Explorer to pull up a port in order to go through the inner workings of the phone.
I want my damn wallpapers to display full screen slider closed and slider open!!!! lol

Reason: Hey my mom DIDNT buy me this phone WTF?! lol
So i've got this problem, everywhere I look online people are saying that Straight Talk sim cards are locked to the phone. My problem is that mine is not. Here is what happened. I went to Walmart the other day to buy a Nokia E71 to replace my R355c that I already have on Straight Talk. I go on their website to switch my number/account over to it and it kept saying that I didn't have any phones on my account and that I would need to call technical support. So I give them a call from my R355c and tell the lady that I currently have an account and would like to upgrade my phone to my E71. She goes through all of this crap and tells me to turn the phone on but during the time that it takes me to put in the battery and boot it up she says that I can just call back if it don't work and basically rushes me off of the phone. I get it turned on and it has a totally new number. I go to the website and log in and they gave me a month of service on the new phone that DID NOT COME WITH A SERVICE CARD! My old phone still has the same expiration date. Now I figure give them 24 hours and still the same so I call them up and after explaining the situation she talks to her supervisor twice and then tells me that they will have to send me a new sim card and that once I receive it I can put it in my phone and go over the number transfer with them again. Now after talking to them I sit in my living room staring at some AT&T phones that I have and got the idea to swap my sim into a LG Shine. It worked! I tried a Blackberry 8310 and got voice/text but no data which was to be expected. I then found someone who had AT&T and tried their sim in my E71 and got an error so i'm guessing that the phone itself is locked to the sim. Now I don't know if it was some kind of error while setting up my account or if the sims don't actually lock to the phone but everything i've been reading so far says that they should be locked. If this is the case then i'm guessing maybe I should just start using the new number that they gave me and forget about the new sim that they're sending?

Beware!!!! when they say they are sending you a sim.
it took them 2 months for me to get my sim. always ask for a tracking number. they use fedex to ship so they will have a tracking number if they are serios about actually getting u a sim card. the best bet is to get a cdma phone. and call them up to activate!! plus cdma run on the verizon towers which give u better call coverage.
can someone tell me where to buy a gsm straight talk and the sim card? I looked on their site and never see anything listed about buying gsm or cdma phones. they just have it listed as phones and they also dont have sim cards listed.
I prefer gsm because I love the idea of sim cards and being able to switch phones as often as you want without dealing with anyone.
Don't know if it's possible with Straight Talk Gsm Snackers. I've read, yes , no and maybe. There is no truly confirmed consensus at this point. I'd stick with the tried and true carriers, Tmobile, Att, Simple Mobile, the numerous Att mvnos. Straight Talk is iffy at best for byod on the gsm side at this point, though there are those who say it is possible.
This was spotted at a Wal Mart in PA, but the pic was not taken by me. Looks like Net10 Unlimited is history now. GSM phones have appeared on St's site, but I think this is the first spotting of one in store. Something tells me that this will go along the lines of Net10 Unlimited and be T-Mobile only.
Hello,
In Vancouver Washington, where I live, there are two Walmarts. The one closest to me has mostly AT&T, and a few tmobile GSM phones. The one closer to I-5, has mostly tmobile and just a few AT&T GSM phones. Both of them have the IDEN phones as well. You can look at the numbers on the boxes and tell. Sometimes they have an "A" or a "T", on the bottom designating if it's AT&T or Tmobile.
