Hey Guys! Just got back from my Walmart and they have both GSM phones in stock, but they put the t401g behind the r451c's. I doubt the associates even know there is a difference......

yea i noticed that too. oh well, i know which i want so it doesnt matter.
I have a few questions, my walmart has both the GSM phones. You use to be able to tell from the serial number on the package if it ran off tmobile (T5) or att (C4), but it doesent say on the ones i looked at. Is there a way to tell? because in my erea tmobile sucks. All on the samsung 401g does it have asending ringtones from low to high? alot of tmobile samsungs do that and i hate it.

Too soon to tell for sure but it could be ST is only using AT&T for their GSM phones. There have not been enough posts from new owners to know if T-MOBILE will appear. Tell WalMart T-Mob is unacceptable and have them write on the receipt that it is returnable if not on AT&T.

Yes. If you can talk WalMart into opening the package you can then look at the first six digits of the SIM card S/N: 890141 = AT&T and 890126 = T-MOBILE. The full Serial Number is on one side of the SIM card. If you power on the phone and go to the Prepaid menu and click on SIM INFO, the number will also appear there.

Would that number be on the packaging or would i have to buy it and open it?
What exactly is the appeal of GSM/AT&T Straight Talk? Are there really that many people who live in an area with no native verizon or poor verizon coverage? AT&T's coverage is relatively poor compared to Verizon's so I'm confused about all the interest in what is essentially a downgrade.

with unlimited data and a gsm phone it all about the browser..java..operamini..games..the differents is day and nite..!!
May I also add that in my area At&t is more superb than Verizon. For example in my house I get anywhere from 1 to 3 bars but with my mom's At&t phone and with my Safelink (Tracfone) phone we get 5 bars, no less than 4. I would expect that type of coverage in a non-metropolitan area but being in one of the largest metropolitan areas in Florida I would expect better from Verizon.
