Greetings all, I finally found a W755 on eBay because it has a rear antenna connector. I picked up an antenna adapter today, and will do further tests.
Meanwhile, I picked up a 2 gig min-SD card. I put it in the W755. It recognized the card and I formatted it. I took the mini and put it into a SD adapter which I attached to my computer. I had previously download mp3 ringtones, all around 30 seconds, and I converted them to Wav. files. Using my computer I copied the ringtone files into the MY SOUNDS folder of the mini-sd. I then reinserted the min sd into my W755.
Needless to say, I cannot find my wav. files anywhere. I went to tools and settings and went to memory. It says that I'm using around 200 megs of space on the mini sd card. However, when I click on SOUNDS or MUSIC....nothing is shown.
What am I doing wrong? Does the W755 want mp3s instead of Waves? I want to put in my own ringtones and not pay for them. You assistance is appreciated.
Tired of waiting for an answer, I erased the wav. and pasted mp3s in the SOUNDS folder. They showed up and I could play them....however, even after transfering from card to phone...I still found no way to make them ringtones. When I formatted the mini-SD card, it gave me a SOUNDS folder, and a MUSIC folder. It didn't give me a RINGTONE folder like on another phone of mine.
I'm a pretty logical guy, and I looked at all the settings. I couldn't find a way to make my very short mp3s into a ringtone. I did email one, and I successfully made that a ring tone....but since I live 24 miles from the nearest cell phone tower....I'm not going to go into "town" just to do the ringtones.
Also, a quick google found this (don't know how accurate or inaccurate it is):
"When you formatted the card it created 7 folders:
media / My_Flix / My_Images / My_Music / My_Pix / My_Sounds
The only folder that will recognise an MP3 is the My_Music folder. Here you can drop any MP3 song you want into it and play in on your phone, but you can't move them to a ring tone.
The other folder (the one you'll use for your ring tone) will only recognise WMA sound files. Therefore, you will need to convert your saved MP3 sound clip to a WMA clip.
The program I used for this was Fairstars audio converter.
Once the file was converted to a WMA file, I placed it into the My_Sounds folder, removed the card from the computer, placed it in the phone card slot and powered it up.
From there I selected MENU > SETTINGS AND TOOLS > MEMORY > CARD MEMORY > MY_SOUNDS.
The sound clip was in the folder. Select OPTIONS > MOVE > MARK ALL > DONE > then select YES to move to phone.
The clip is now in your phone's My_Sounds folder.
Select MENU > MEDIA CENTER > MUSIC AND TONES > MY SOUNDS.
Find the clip you made, then click OPTIONS > SEND > NEW PICTURE MESSAGE. Type in your phone number and send it. In a few minutes you will receive the message. When you open the message the clip will play.
While the clip is playing, click OPTIONS > SAVE SOUND > SET AS > SET AS RINGTONE > OK.
The sound file is now in your ringtones and can be used."
