Is there a SIMPLE way to bypass Palm activation screen on Pre?

I have a Pre that was on an account before I ported out I want to use for wifi and music. I did a reset on it to clear the info, and when I did, it cleared everything out including the previous activation. All I get when I turn it on is the log onto Palm Profile screen. I have no way to get around this because the phone is no longer active on Sprint.

All I can find as a way to get around this is about a 100 step process where you have to be proficient in Linux. Is there no simple way to get around this? If not, I guess I essentially have a $400 paperweight.

You are trying to do something that the creators of the phone explicitly did not want you to do. It isnt going to be point and click simple. If that doesnt work for you, sell the Pre and buy something that is designed to do what you want to do with the money.

Thanks, I tried to do what the instructions said and could not even get off the first step.

I am just going to buy an EVO and try to sell the Palm.

The other problem is that I forget to clear the esn before I ported my number out, so now there is no way for anyone to use it as a phone, oh well.

If you ported out once you pay your final bill the esn will be clear. If you ported out just one line and still have a Sprint account it **should** become clear as soon as you pay the ETF if there is one as long as your account is current.

Yeah, there are really only a very few ways to 'dirty up' an ESN. If you give more details about what happened OP we might be able to tell you how to make the phone useable again.
