Hello, I've narrowed my smartphone upgrade choices down to: TP2, Palm Treo Pro and Blackberry.
Can anyone tell me which one "wins" as far as the following criteria:
1) Ability to tether seamlessly with Mac OSX 10.4 laptop using mobile-stream's 'usbmodem' app - i.e., tether via usb cable with minimum hassle,
and overall "Mac-friendly" operation in terms of connectivity
2) Strong signal and good voice/call quality (comparable to my old Sanyo 9000 at least...) -
3) Reasonable qwerty keyboard (touchscreen is nice but not an imperative)
and screen size.
Any well-known issues with, say, Palms or BB - vs. a TP2 as far as battery life, Memory 'robustness' - or other potential problems.
I am a little more limited in choices with SERO but on the surface seems a Palm OR TP 2 would do the usbmodem thing equally well - I don't know much
about the differences between, say Palm Treo Pro vs Pre, etc. - or anything about WindowsMobile for that matter - but as mentioned, the ease of interface with Mac OS for data is my prime concern - and btw i cannot use
a wifi type router - as my main app i'd be using needs to see a "Public IP" to work right and thus am looking at the 'usbmodem'(MobileStream) to get this.
Thanks for any pros/cons to help me finally make this decision...i hope to pick something up this week.
Much appreciated,
Mike

Hey, roger-that about SERO; )
So, is that Palm an EVDO Rev.A speed? I can double check that...
Can you connect with usb direct vs. bluetooth? I hear that's way
faster and i need fastest poss. upload speed for my specific tether
situation. Is Palm OS more user-friendly and Mac-friendly than
WinMo? I'm leaning toward Blackberry if I can't find something
in a Palm that is easier to interface with Mac than a WinMo...but
that speed issue i.e., EVDO Rev.A is pretty key deciding factor too.
Other than that, something older or with fewer features -
doesn't much matter to me - just a decent keypad, phone and
'reasonable' size. As i say. TP2 is way overkill and unnecessarily
complex for what i want. Thanks!
Wait until october 1st!!! for android
