    Who is Siri Wireless?

Okay, we had a new Hofo calling themselves Siri Wireless pasting near spam level posts all over the place so I dug a little. Here's what I know.

They are another Telspace mvno . Telspace is the country's biggest mvne or mvno services provider. They are running Sprint and Verizon services. Resident Hofo mvno expert Offthegrid will confirm this. Their website http://store.siriwireless.com/store/z/? SCREAMS Telspace mvno.

One is their Sprint unlimited everything plan for sixty dollars.
    Approved devices only.

The other is their Verizon plan. From what I've seen it has postpaid coverage and plans very similar to the now to be history Mingo Wireless (Verizon version).

They allow byod with an activation charge. Approved devices are most Verizon phones with the exception of prepaid devices.

Alltel devices are not officially supported but can be done.

Blackberry services are offered only on the Sprint pcs version of their network.

They are going to launch a Att/Gsm version at the end of summer.

They have been around for about a year.

They have 24 hour available customer service via live chat. I chatted with one representative and they were knowledgable, helpful, courteous and professional. It almost reminded me of Mingo.

Their biggest weakpoints is their lack of affordable phones (199 for a VX8500 original Chocolate? ), high activation fees for byod devices (one forum said $35..one of the whole points of byod is to save money, not spend more) and high prices on their larger plans.

Their biggest strong points appear to be theri CS (already covered), offering of three networks (Verizon, Sprint and to be Att/gsm), byod on the Verizon version and them already having a dealer network).

If their Verizon offering is overpriced, at least they will have Sprint and Att offerings to fall back on...poor Mingo didn't even have that...

It appears that some Mingo users have gone over to them... knowing how Mingo was always praised for its consistently good CS, I'm hoping that Siri has that to offer...

As for their plans... the only one I see that really stands out in the Verizon pack is their $24.99 for 250 minutes/3000 7pm night and weeend minutes plan. I'm not sure what the activation fee is but that is a good deal in my book...3250 Verizon minutes for $25...

The problem I've always run into when looking at BlackDog, Lucky, and similar Verizon based providers for friends that want a "plan" based prepaid provider is that although the talk plans look nice on the surface, as soon as you add in any data and text(which require add ons) it makes the plan cost more than quite a few "unlimited" plans out there.

Overpriced Verizon mvno plans are a hard sale to swallow these days. That is exactly what hampered Mingo's growth. It's hard to compete with unlimited talk/text/20 megs a web from Page Plus with full byod (well it was once upon a time) at $40-45.

Mingo decided to get out of their underleveragef position by completely leaving the confines of the Big Red One for Sprint.

Myway/Lucky has taken the opportunity to absorb a part of their user base by transitioning Mingo's must have Verizon service users over to their sub base.

Siri is offering plans that would have squeaked by a year and a half ago like Att's old, never changed enough (and now DEAD) Pick Your Plans. (They could have cut prices, increased night/weekend to unlimited and added m2m maybe but nahhh....)

Virgin Mobile finally got some major revamping which helped save their bacon.

But Siri offers nothing special. Byod at $35 activation? C'mon. When Myway's going to be offering unlimited with full byod (except Verizon prepaid phones of course) to their transition version of Mingo (to become Myway 3G), at 59.99, 850 anytime/3000 night and weekend minutes at the same price can't quite hold up to it.

And that's not even adding text or data yet.

The best thing I see from Siri is their $25 plan with 250 anytime/3000 night and weekend minutes. That is lower then any other Verizon prepaid plan out there but of course there's that damn $35 activation fee...

    Their nights start at 7pm.

I think Verizon should really do better then this.

3000 to 3200 minutes? I think they should offer their mvnos UNLIMITED night and weekends already. C'mon, this is 2010, not 1998.

No mobile to mobile so even with unlimited n/w, Verizon "proper" would still have an advantage there.

I wish Siri luck. I hope they stick around because it is always good to see more Verizon based options with Mingo and Air Voice Express exiting the room.

But they should really watch their prices. As the new kid on the block, unless they offer something better, different or unique, they will just be swamped by other similar but superior offerings that cost less, offer more, etc.

Their CS seems to be possibly made up of the same good stuff Mingo's was though... I have to give them that (yeah, I interrogated them a bit...)

Just a note to "Cellspin" or whoever you are. Chill on the spamming. Siri Wireless made a bad impression by coming out of nowhere and then plastering "Check us out!" all over the place with no regard for making a connection. It took another rep from Siri to pull the leash on that overeager hound which was a good move.

Mingo Wireless TOOK the time when they could to connect with the Hofo community and didn't plaster it all over the place. I am SICK of every new wannabe mvno coming here and going, "LOOKY ME! LOOKY ME! BUY MY STUFF!".

That approach will do nothing to get you respect in the Hofo community. We've seen our share of Fly By Nighters and they will just come and go. It's the ones who are real who will stay the course who matter...

    Think about it...

My bad if you're a newb with your first post, but it looked like another attempt by Siri to shill their product before someone over there wised up and pulled back the original driver who overspammed trying to get the word out.

You have only one post that's why it didn't look good. If another Hofo with a few more posts had put it up, I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow at it...

Siri has a good chat interface, you can ask them literally 247 anything you want. I don't know if their live phone support is as good but even Mingo didn't have 247 chat.

They do need to lower prices though...good thing they offer Sprint and Att too or otherwise, they'd be stuck like Mingo was before they uhh...SPRINTed out of there...

I'd say the least Siri could do is reduce prices in general, keep up their CS levels, try to get at least the same unlimited talk deal that Myway3G/Mingo Verizon transition version is getting...

If Mingo had all the stuff that the Verizon version is now getting under Myway...what another story that would have been...

Thanks for taking the time to answer, fonezfonz. It appears that with this special you must pay their activation fee but the monthly plans for the SIRI Flex 250, 400, & 550 there is no charge and you still get the 3000 N&W.

No problem. Like I said, my bad. I do believe there is an activation charge of $35 for ALL of their Flex plans though... payiing $35 to activate their 24.99 plan (the only one that stands out ) is a deal breaker for me...

Why would anyone want one of these plans? They cost a fortune.

I also find it difficult to believe that someone with four posts has posted only about this obscure and expensive provider. Just how naive do they think people are?

More things about Siri. They will be launching a gsm /Att plan probably next month (August). They are also trying to get a paygo plan out similar to what Mingo had. Whether it will have data and text at comparable rates remains to be seen. Also, they claim a Blackberry service is in the works, with a twist.

Siri I think has one big weakness mentioned by Offthegrid. Their prices. They should really think twice about cutting down their ridiculously expensive activation fees. Who wants to pay $35 to activate a $25 plan?

And all their Verizon based plans above 250 minutes are in arm and a leg territory.

But if they can bring Verizon based paygo and a good Blackberry offering, they might have something.
And if they could get a Verizon based unlimited plan similar to Myway3G's (though it is reportedly capped), they might have something.

But damn, bring some of those prices down.
