Well went to Verizon at midnight and it was packed well really I,went at 11:30pm and they were selling the Droid x I was the last to get there , so I was waiting in line and a rep came out and said there were sold out only got 40 in ??? That's crazy !!! They held almost all of them , if I knew that I wouldn't have tried but they ordered it and will overnight it so it will be here Friday
Hoping I will be ok going by local store .. although .. I stopped in today and they told me they only got 3 X's for tomorrow. Luckily this is a fairly small town. Will be down there bright and early anyways.
weird... I can't get it to let me pick 1 year contract once my account is logged in.... though the CS rep told me it would work when I asked a few days ago. grr!
Well, I'm calling it a night. Hopefully when I log in tomorrow this thread will actually have some posts in it regarding the phone, and not 20 pages of people talking about buying/ordering or complaining about either.
Everytime you don't read the thread before asking your silly question, Verizon delays a new cellphone. Yes, Verizon did just robbed you.
HAHAHAHA! yeah I'm laughing at you!
Thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless, America's most reliable wireless. We do appreciate your business.
Your order is currently in queue to be processed. In most cases orders are processed within 3 business days. If additional information is required before we can complete your order, you will receive a more detailed e-mail. If your order can be completed successfully, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your order has been completed and shipped.
Should I cancel this internet order and go into the store tomorrow? I'm currently out of town and had it shipped to the address where I'm staying at assuming it would be here on friday via overnight shipping. The problem is I catch a plane back home on Saturday so if it doesn't process and arrive on Friday the order is worthless.
You didn't read any of the information threads, did you?
Why do you say that?
EDITED: because I am an idiot
I went back to look through the thread and yes, I see now that it does not use motoblur. I was told today in the store by the manager that it did. I also was reading some discussion in the pre-release thread about blur and totally muffed up. I apologize for my idiotic previous post.
On a related note, I am much happier to find out that it doesn't have it
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm a long time AT&T user and am switching from my iPhone to an Android phone. I ordered a Droid X tonight. I am still debating a Droid X or getting a Samsung Captivate, which should be released Sunday. I have to order through my work though, so I don't know how quickly the Captivate will hit the website (and more importantly, my door step).
My question is, when I get my Droid X, will I be able to use it without activating it? I mean, obviously I can't make calls, but will I be able to setup WiFi, download some apps, play around on the internet, etc, or will it be non-functional (other than 911 calls) until I activate it?
I know VZW has a $35 restocking fee if I open it and play with it (that's fine), but if I can avoid activating it and being stuck with the three day return window before the activation fee is non-refundable in case I decide to switch to the Captivate, that would be nice.

I've removed the posts about "I can't order, it's not showing up" and "I've ordered mine".
We don't need to bloat this thread with 'me too' posts.
Now if you have some type of question to ask about ordering or have an experience that you want to share "I wasn't allowed to upgrade" or "My local store was sold out", then that is ok.
I specifically got a promo email on July 9th that stated I was eligible for an early upgrade on 7/15 to the Droid X for $199 - even though my annual upgrade isn't until Nov 9th nor is my NE2 until the same date in 2011. However if I go through the early upgrade process it's not giving me that pricing! Any ideas on how I should proceed? The email specifically says offer good for account with phone number ending in xxxx which is my number.

I had to call in, they couldn't figure out how to do it, but I sent them the email and a supervisor was able to override it - it should be here tomorrow!
