Also why does it only tell you have updates, when it reaches 5 updates to download.

For everyone who's experiencing battery problems. How many widgets do you have running?the more widgets and how often you have your apps checking for info affects your battery life. The first day i had the dc i left all of the pre-installed widgets running. The battery lasted 6 hrs,and then i cleared all the screens and put only beautiful widgets and my apps i use and my battery last 13- 15 hrs before it gets down to 40%

I only had a couple widgets that constantly pulled data like Engadget, Facebook, and Twitter. I have removed those widgets to try and find the root cause of my horrible battery life. I currently only have BW. Last night while I was sleeping it dropped 30%. I am close to doing the master reset.

How often do you have bw updating? And do you use the geo location feature?

Off the battery-life discussion: Last evening I found that there is an app that will allow copy/paste. LINK

I now have a valid reason to root my phone, but need to know:

..... Root now, or wait until after the 2.2 update? Pros/cons of each?

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Also, as I understand it, we cannot do a full backup since the bootloader is locked?

I just placed an order right now, is there any way for me to still apply any of the promo codes? My card has already been billed, thanks.

I rooted but didn't remove any bloatware (I don't feel like putting it back on before Froyo). When 2.2 hits, I'll lose root. That's all.

I'm satisfied with just hiding the apps I don't care about with Launcher Pro. While I'm at it, I find Launcher pro to be essential.

First day use got around 17 hours of battery, 7 hours of it the phone was on pilot mode and the remaining light to medium use. I should get more within the coming days.

I am usually dead around lunchtime. Granted I use it quite a bit, but seriously, its awful. My wife's Incredible isn't used as much but gets a full day easy.
I was having horrible battery life too....usually dead around lunchtime as well. I did a master reset and reinstalled everything except beautiful widgets and now I'm lasting the whole day and still between 70 and 80% by 6pm. Not really sure if it was the master reset or not installing BW that made the difference but I seem to have fixed the problem.

In the meantime VZW has set up a replacement for my phone because they didn't know why the battery life was so bad. I probably won't get it until next week and I'm not sure if I should even take the new one since this one seems to be working well. Any thoughts. Should I cancel the replacement order?

If your only issue was the battery and it is fixed now then I say cancel the replacement and make another soon to be Xer's day
