Cell phone jamming in Walmart? What would be the point of that? Interesting theory, though. LOL!
I'm going to guess it is just the physical nature of the building that it may block reception.
Cell phone jammers should give you NO reception, not weak reception. They are also very illegal in the US, and I can't believe a company like Walmart could get away with secretly deploying them.
If you want to believe the conspiracy theory as to why....
They may want to stop people with smartphones from using barcode scanning apps to compare prices. Even the Amazon Droid app will use the camera to scan items and show you the amazon price, and offer to save it in your cart.
Everyone knows Walmart is not really any cheaper overall than other stores with the exception of the loss leader products they promote to bring you in the doors. They also have the convenience of selling everything in one location. Amazon has free shipping, so Walmart does have a bit of a threat there. Why lug 40lbs of dog food when Amazon will deliver the same brand to your doorstep for the same price? You can even set it up to deliver it once a month.
My phone has been getting really clunky in the last few weeks. Definitely not defective, but it might be time for a factory reset. This will be my third one since I got the phone on release day. I have not really added any new apps that I can point to for the pokiness, though it could be a newer version of an app I have been using for a while (I guess).
I have not done the auto-update yet, but will soon. I'll see if that fixes anything. I would still love the volume to be a bit louder and the vibrate stronger..... but I don't see that happening.
QUESTION: should I let apps auto-update? I'm letting it do that right now. I have not read anything about either way. Even if it is manual update, I'm going to update any apps I use. I'm pretty good about removing apps I don't like, or never use.
I doubt that, Cell Phone Jamming equipment is ILLEGAL in the United States per the FCC, if they got caught using it it would mean HUGE fines and/or jail time.
They are selling some new technology called zone of silence, it's similar to a jammer but it allows you to still dial 911 so it should be legal.
I am not sure if it's just building engineering but I am in entrance of store, full bars, I go in a couple of steps and boom down to 1 bar, go fully in, phone fully dead. Can maybe find one or two spots where I can if lucky get one bar then it fades.
