    4.0.1 --> proximity sensor fix?

    If you have an iPhone 4, upgraded to iOS 4.0.1, and have been experiencing the proximity sensor issue, please let us know whether or not it fixed the problem. Thanks.

    It clearly states that they ONLY think 4.0.1 fixes is the reception bar's calculation. NO other fixes.

    Dissapointing really..

    I'm still having a problem with mine as well... I don't think software will fix this one either.

    What did the Apple store say when you took it in for diagnosis?

    Probably.

    I just updated to 4.0.1 and mine actually seems to be better now.. Though since the fix didn't address that problem I can only assume that maybe it's just a bug that exsists in the software that happens only under certain conditions, which is why many have reported the problem going away after restoring the phone and selecting "new" instead of "restore".

    Time will tell... But I think that whatever Bug is causing the proximity sensor issue can be resolved by fixing whatever the issue is within the software that creates the problem in some cases but not others..

    I restored my phone as new and haven't had the problem since. Have any of you tried that yet?

    Nope! The proximity sensor on my iP4 stil screws up almost every other call. My cheek mutes a lot of calls.

    Hmm.

    I've made half a dozen calls and the sensor issue has not surfaced again since the update. Hmm.

    Wonder what tomorrow and the Apple press conference will bring?

    This can be fixed using the software. I am sure there is a lag setup somewhere in the software and it seems to be like 100-200ms. I guess if it is bumped up to 1 seconds it might help. Again, remember the lag is not what you notice.

    In the presser they said that they're working on it for the next update, presumably 4.1.
