Tip: You Can get to the phone settings quickly by
Home Screen> Menu Button > Settings
I discovered today that if you hold down the home button, while in another app it will bring up the multi task screen.
since i am a noob, its good info for me.
^ uh no it was a tip, Try it it works.
Anyone know of how I can set up one of my custom ringtones as a message notification? ie for a sms message notification?
Not sure why it would be doing that besides the fact you're using a windows machine and it's anyone's guess what's going on.My windows 7 machine works fine and so does my MacBook Pro...so not sure what the deal could be. Hopefully the link will be helpful to a few others. Myself and my three other friends with X's seem to do fine with it...so it's likely just your pc specifically that is having the issue. Who knows. There are other programs out there as well, but that little tutorial seemed to work best for me to explain it to everyone.
If you're trying to convert a commercial dvd , handbrake doesn't have any way to remove the encryption used on those . if you google dvd ripping you will see what you need if you want to rip your dvd to your pc , then use handbrake to convert its format , which is what handbrake is made for , not encryption stripping
I used a free app in the Marketplace called Ringdroid. You can actually chop the mp3 down to section you want use and save it a notification rintone, reg ringtone etc.
Alright, total android noob here and not really too tech-savvy...
I was wondering, can I make a sub-folder of my photos to use exclusively for contact IDs? If so, how would I go about doing this please?
Also, I've been having a heck of a time trying to post music (from my PC) & a movie (from iTunes library) onto my Droid X. If someone was so inclined to post a step-by-step instruction, I would be eternally grateful!
Other than these little speed-bumps & the short battery life, I am absolutely loving this phone! Don't know why I waited so long to get a smartphone now!
Okay so I've added beautiful/fancy widgets to my Droid X and got rid of most of the stock Moto apps/replaced them with better versions found in the marketplace, and just set up Launcher Pro. So far, the phone is looking and working much better than out of the box, except for one thing: With Launcher Pro, the stock Moto widgets I actually DO like and use (the contacts shortcuts) aren't able to be resized.
I figure this is just an issue with the Ninja-Blur overlay, but is there any way to resize these widgets when using Launcher Pro? I also don't see a way to quickly exit Launcher Pro to get to the stock launcher, without uninstalling? Not sure if I'm missing something, but Launcher Pro doesn't show up in my App drawer at all, only in the Manage Applications menu, and I don't see a way to stop it there. It won't show up in my Task Killer, either.
To view full websites in the stock browser open up the browser and in the url type "about:debug" nothing will happen. Then hit the menu key go to settings at the bottom it will say UAstring. Select this and choose "Desktop" instead of "Android". Done!
Also FYI if you use something like Barcode and scan a QR Code for and app you will need to revert back to android setting first otherwise it will think you are on a computer and not an android device and wont be able to take you to the market place.
Most of you probably knew this already but I figured it couldn't hurt.
