With Launcherpro, I'm unable to have the "contact quick tasks" widget function/look like it did when I first turned the phone on with ninja-blur. I actually like having a list of "favorite" contacts where I could quickly call them or send a text and I'm wondering if anyone has had any success getting this widget to work with Launcherpro
That Quick Contact list thing doesn't work yet in Launcher Pro. Supposedly he's fixing it...it has something to do with the resizing of the widgets from Motorola.
The way I got around it is I hold on the screen and add folder. One of the options is "favorites" and I just go into each person I want in that list and "star" them in the contact list. Then when you press that folder on your home screen it pops up a list of the people you starred. Works pretty good until they get those resizable widgets working correctly.
Text message question: When I use my volume rocker to change the ring status to vibrate, the text message goes to silent. I only know a text came in if I see the blinking light. How do I make the phone vibrate for a received text when the ringer is set to vibrate? Also can the phone screen be set to turn on briefly when a text comes in while the phone is on vibrate, just like if it were to ring?
one potential solution, if you don't mind it also vibrating when the ringer is on, is to enable vibrate under text messaging settings. go here: Text Messaging-Menu-Messaging Settings - then scroll down to Text messaging settings and click Vibrate. This will enable the vibrate when ringer is set to vibrate, and when the ringer is on, it will enable vibrate along with whatever ring you have set for text messages.

To add to this, for the mean time until those widgets work with launcher pro, I have been using "Quick Caller", which gives you a direct dial widget to use. I was also missing this feature with the launcher pro switch.
from the home screen, click the Menu button, then Preferences then Homescreen Settings
Thank you!!
Any idea how to get fonts in other languages to display? I'm thinking arabic/hebrew... I can't view any websites/use apps that have those languages and google isn't helping me understand how to do it or if it's possible.
My biggest tip...follow these instructions for converting almost any type of video so that they will play correctly (and beautifully of course) on your X.
Or, for an easier and speedier solution, just download rockplayerbase and copy the files to the sd card. It can play anything, but it gets a bit choppy on a 1.5 GB, 1 hour episode of Top Gear in 720P.
One more question - what's the best app for gchat/aim? Is there one that combines both so I can log into both AIM and Gchat and control all chats with one app?
You know what I wish they'd change? The fact that a text message still shows up as a "new alert" in the status bar on top even after you read/respond to it via either the pop-up text or even within the text program itself
Hey guys i have a question about tethering via BT. I have read other forums, and people have apparently set this up successfully. I am on Win 7, and I can sync my Droid X to my PC, and it shows up and everything. I then click on "connect to access point," and the connection is successful, but there is no connectivity to the internet. When I check the status of the connection, it says "no internet access," but there are data packets being received and sent.
Does anyone have any info regarding this issue, or how to properly tether via BT? I know that pdanet is a solution, but since I read that many ppl are just connecting using this method, I wanted to try it out.

You can clear it by backing all the way out to your home screen, then entering the text message app, then clicking on the person who's text the alert is from. For some reason it just doesn't think you've read the text if you're already in the thread that the alert is from. You have to go all the way out and back in and it'll clear it. That has been a problem in Android since day one...it's happened on all three Droid phones I've had (Droid, Incredible, X).

Depends on the app, but normally just clicking in the message box will clear it. Either the input text box or the actual window where the message is.
