The stock SMS app in Android isn't on the X. That's the Blur SMS app. At least I assumed it was. I could care less if it is Blur or Sense or Android, I'm easy and dont need many options so havent paid much attention to the differences between the apps.

I've experienced the issue of the notification icon going away. In some apps, it will go away if you click in the box. Sometimes clicking in the text input box helps as opposed to the message box.

On the X, the Blur SMS app clears out that notification if I click in the message box. ymmv.

I know, but I was saying that the notification in the status bar for text messaging is jacked up on ALL versions (Vanilla Android, Sense and Blur). I've had three phones and it was the same issue. The notification would only go away if you went into the text app (whichever version it is) and clicked on the text message sender from the list of all your texts. If you were already in the text app, especially if you were in the conversation, the notification wouldn't clear all of the time. It's an Android bug obviously since it happens on each phone regardless of the "skin" on top of Android.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing and had the same basic conclusion. Not sure what I was disagreeing about - I get confused in my old age sometimes.

Though so far the X hasn't had me jump thru any hoops to clear a sms/IM notification like my Inc and Droid would do on occasion.

I definitely noticed it more on the Inc and original droid, so I agree with you there! I probably just wasn't clear what I was stating previously, so it's probably my old age too.

Does anybody know if the Touchdown app requires the enterprise activation, or if the enterprise data plan is required only if you are using the 'native' sync?

    Thanks.

I'm having trouble seting up beautiful widgets on my X. It isn't picking up my location, and when I go to look for more skins, it won't show a preview image of the skin, just list them.

Hmm, I've used Beautiful widgets since the Droid 1, but I don't ever recall seeing a preview. I always got just a list of the skins.

So has anyone figured out how to sync your friends with theoretical facebook without importing every single one?

I keep seeing FB posts at droidforums. There are no less than 3 active threads that have been posted on today that have facebook in their subject line:
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...al-discussions
... though "today" covers the first three or four pages there.

I don't use FB, but it seems like an issue for you guys. I figured they have the most heads banging together about it over there, so you might find your answer easier. And if you do, post any helpful info here, of course.

I was curious about this as well.
Also, does anyone know how & where to save a Mp3 sound so that I can send it phone to phone via picture message? I frequently made custom ringtones for a friend of mine and sent them from my sounds folder on my old LG Dare for him to use on his phone, but I haven't been able to figure out if this is possible with the Droid X yet.
