WAY to GO! This proves my theory that the old Boost mobile Lucky 13 tactic works on the new Verizon prepaid trial plan. You just have to deal with having an SC number in NY. Just start talkin' in a drawl...knowhutahmean?

I got the plan in NY
... I DID cheat, though.
See, my girlfriend lives in SC and I call her a lot, so I just said I was 'moving to South Carolina'. They did a number change to a SC number... which then let the system let me have the plan. I do say that lady in the Georgian callcenter was amazing to deal with.
My Verizon on the phone says it's a "Traditional" plan, though...

Does that mean you can have Verizon service with unlimited talk, text and data for $80 a month minus prepaid card discounts?
That matches T-Mobile Flexpay if so and maybe better if there are no taxes and fees.
With google voice its really not that big of a deal if you have a SC number, if you need a local #, just get google voice.
Still an amazing deal for unlimited talk/text
and IIRC, calling to ST phones will not count as M2M. Not sure how yours slipped through the cracks?
Home ISP, RR-Ultimate WiFi, $90/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited
School, $5,000/semester | Work
Actually, you should be wondering when it ENDS. The promo ends on Sept. 10, 2010. It is unknown if they will expand beyond the original test. In the even they don't grab one now using the tactic Missingno listed and use a Google Voice number like Extraordinary said.
Will it go national or not? My guess is maybe and if it does, it won't be available for smartphones.
So will there be some kind of official announcement that I should be looking for on the 10th? My wife is on the VZW contract unlimited plan which with taxes ends up costing us over $80/month. I would love to convert her to this prepaid plan.
2 more days? Not a very long trial period. I wonder if they will boot everyone off who "tested" it out if they decide not to keep it?
They said they would grandfather those who are active on the plan if the offer does end after the 10th.
Just checking. Their website is not going to have it. I'm betting their CSRs will know. Anyone able to get this deal after Sept 10, please post.
Enquiring minds want to know.
Oi. Tried to put an Eris on my "save" plan. Turns out... ya can't. No double-dipping with this plan at all, apparently. Either I give up my $50 plan for a Droid... or keep using a crummy Accolade.
I'm in a bit of a pickle...
Just confirmed with Verizon prepaid CS that the plan has been extended through October 8. This is good news. Also, you most definitely can't use the new range of phones allowed on the other (way more expensive) data plans.
Byod on unlimited $49.99 is restricted to whatever was allowed on the old plans before the new smartphone plans came out. In other words,
No smartphones, no touchscreen and no html browser phones.
But the extension is an encouraging sign, indicating that there is some demand for this and that Verizon isn't just cutting it off.
Hopefully, it will become more mainstream...we'll find out more on October 9th I guess...
does anybody know which models will be compatible with this plan. The 49.99 unlimited txt and talk
