I tried the vibrant for the weekend. Liked it a lot at first but the problems kept mounting.Originally Posted by Nodakawa

I notice when I hit "Software Update" under Settings that I get a pop up indicating "No Firmware". I hope that's just indicating there's not update to be had, rather than it not recognizing what version of the OS I have. That might make OTA updates problematic.
Also I find this phone really doesn't like task managers. Even running ATK in "safe" mode it acted goofy. A master reset and no task managers (I am using System Panel, however, but no auto kill) and the phone hums nicely. No battery life complaints, no freezes, no screen-stays-lit-when-I miss-a-call issues. At this point I have to attribute it to the 2 or 3 different task managers I tried.
1) Battery meter is really off. The GUI tells me over 50% but actual is like 30
2) Signal strength meter is off
3) Screen will not turn off after receiving text or email. It will shut off if you have a lock pattern set.
Thats about it, Love the phone!
Love the phone so far. I've only had it a few days but it has run smooth so far. Here's a few "issues" that I have, most have to do with corporate sync.
- Calendar - not real thrilled... I have my corporate outlook account synced. Appointments come in fine and I can edit an appointment on the Vibrant and have that change in outlook, but if I create a new appointment on the device, it doesn't sync over and add to my outlook calendar. Also, if I pull up an appt in the Vibrant calendar that has a phone number, it doesn't let me click on that number and call. It doesn't respond at all to hitting that phone number, doesn't let me copy or add to contacts, nothing. With my Cliq I could hit that number and it would dial.
- Contacts - again with the corporate outlook sync.. it only brings over some of my contacts. I have 3 folders of contacts in Outlook and it only brought over the one folder.
Think that's it for now, very happy with the phone so far. Screen is amazing..
My signal meter makes not sense (is often zero) but I get some data connection. I used to get great signal on my prior phone in the same location (office).
I've had some trouble with touch response on the screen. It only happened when using charging with a Boxwave AC/12V charger with the stock USB cable.
I installed and tried Pandora for the first time. Somehow, once in a while when I touch the screen, I get the media volume selector, but never long enough to use it. I haven't figured out how/when that happens; it would be more convenient than going through all the settings menus to adjust the volume a small amount.
I just got the phone yesterday. Obviously, I'm still in the "play around" with it mode. I connected the bluetooth to my car. The car sees the phone, and the phone sees the car with no problem. However, once while in the middle of a call, the call just went silent, yet it was still connected. When I tried to make another call via the bluetooth and voice command (as I was always able to do with my G1), the call would show up as "connecting" on the screen both on the car and on the phone. The problem is that there was no ringing or sound when the call connected via the car speaker. When I tried picking up the phone and talking through the handset, I couldn't hear anything through there either. Since I was driving at the time, I did not have the opportunity to try to turn the bluetooth off. Additionally, when this happened once, the person tried to call back. I was pushing the green connect button, and the phone would not answer the call. Turning the phone off and turning it back on corrected the problem, but this can be a problem if it continues to happen while driving, and "rebooting" the phone continuously is really not an option.

Definately the battery meter. I added Mini Info to monitor the battery and memory simply because I was used to having to watch memory on the G1, but found that the stock battery meter would always read way higher.
Also, if it counts since T-Mo ships it with Sims 3, I keep getting memory errors in Sims 3, making it impossible to play.
Once or twice I've had it lock up during a call and would not hang up, resulting in a very embarrassing voicemail being left, making me sound like an idiot that can't work his own phone.

DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD WIRELESS PHONE!!
Donate it to someone. It may be useless to you, but it could save someone's life.
911 is always free!!!
the minimum headphone volume is too high.it is about 2x louder than on my nokia phones. The bundled headphones are excellent by the way.
I uninstalled the latest Google Maps version and now my GPS works better, seems like poorly coded drivers for the GPS.

Calendar notifications are useless on the Vibrant. Apparently this is mostly an android problem but Samsung makes it worse by not having a joystick/dpad to select alternative notifications.
If anyone at Samsung is reading this, please fix calendar notifications so they are loud enough to wake one up and work like the Alarm app. This + high minimum volume issue are making me seriously consider returning the phone.
I don't use the calender but there is a software D-Pad, not sure if it would help any.
Samsung Vibrant or Google Nexus 1?
