Help setting up email sync - I know I'm not stupid, but this makes me feel like it
So, first, let me say, I have an iPhone. My wife however, can't use an iPhone because of the capacitive touchscreen. It will not work with a strange thing that many humans have on their fingers - nails. So, she wanted a phone with a hard keyboard and decided on the Tilt 2.
So. I had a PocketPC years ago (Toshiba 740) and various other Palm, Handspring, etc devices so I am not a total stranger to this stuff.
However, I am having a hard time setting her email up. I can set it up so it can get her mail and I can set it up to Sync with Outlook on the desktop via Activesync, but the phone has two seperate inboxes when I do this. One inbox is for the email account on the phone and as long as it is disconnected she gets emails there. The other mailbox is a synced box with Outlook only.
As soon as she syncs, all the emails in the normal Inbox box are now gone but they are in the Outlook synced inbox. Why can't I make it work with one inbox on teh phone. It seems like I have missed a step somewher, but I can't figure out how to do this in one inbox. Maybe a Windows mobile phone just will not work the way I want it to.
It seems to me that this is normal behaviour. Your phone does not know that the PC Outlook and your EMail account are the same, and maybe they are not. My question is: why you are trying to do this? Since your phone gets Email through the wireless data connection, I see no reason to further sync up your Email through your PC and USB cable (unless they are, in fact, different accounts). My suggestion is simply to use the wireless connection and not include EMail in your PC/Phone partnership agreement.
Yep, thats the ticket. I actually was thinking about this the other day and came to the same realization. I just took the default suggestions for Outlook sync when I set it up. I killed the email sync, but kept everythign else and I am good to go.
