Well crap. The 8330 is pretty glitchy and I was hoping the 8530 would be a little faster and hopefully hold more apps. The lack of space on the 8830 is so annoying. Anyone think we'll get an Android on Boost CDMA? I had Boost IDEN and it really sucked! The call quality wasn't great and lag on texts was irritating. I love Boost otherwise.

Haven't checked these forums in a while...since now my Mogul has some miles on it I'm ready to try something different. Any suggestions? (within the realm of our very short list of sprint/boost compatible phones)

kinda interested in the TP 2...what are the odds of getting one that can activate - good enough to try or not even worth it?
I make my phone do things...

Use the ESN checker by DT and you should be okay. I just switched my wife from a Mogul to a TP2. She is in heaven. The TP2 is just amazing compared to the Mogul. If it comes with Windows Mobile 6.1, I would recommend an upgrade to 6.5. I use Chris' Sprint Lovers ROM and it comes optimized for everything you'd want on Boost.

It took me two calls to get it done. I would do it late, maybe an hour or two before they are done for the day. I suspect it works better because of two reasons. It seems you get CSRs from the states at that time, plus I think the managers have gone home for the night, so the CSRs are not so adamant about "Boost phones only". The CSRs from India are nice, and they want to be helpful, but I've had poor luck getting them to do anything with Sprint phones. They are "sticklers" for the rules, probably worried they will get fired from a good job over there.

Yeah I feel the same way with the 9630 vs 9650. The small amount of ram is just not cutting it in the Tour anymore. I only have a few apps on my phone and its gotten down to less the 100megs of space on it thus causing the phone to act buggy at times. I have brand new sprint 9650 sitting around in a box collecting dust because it wont activate on boost :/ That's definitely the downside to boost as they are very limited in supported devices/options. I have a suspicion if they do get an Android device it will be low end and not that great.

Imo I like boost as well but the only thing keeping me with them is the fact that they offer cheaper data then anyone else(particularly pay as you go). I've been with them since the early years on iDen as well so i feel sort of loyal. Its been at least 10 years by my memory. I've never been much of a voice user and Boost has allowed me to save a ton of money over the years vs a standard carrier post paid plan with a similar decent data cap(5gb). I have a feeling if someone else comes out with similar pricing with better BYOD offerings myself along with a lot of others will probably wind up leaving.

Also somewhat interested in the SAMSUNG Intercept on VM with the $25/monthly plan but the problem with that is while I usually use less then 300 minutes most months there are times i can use more. Also it doesn't have REV A data(a must).

OK, Ive had a Sprint HTC touch Pro on Boost for several months now. Everything works, but I want to switch to a custom rom so I can unlock other features. I know there are cooks who have made optimized roms especially for people ho have gotten sprint phones onto boost. Can anyone recommend a good one for me? And should I back up my settings or phone somehow with a program before hand?

Im pretty proficient with soft mods on devices, so if any one can give me a few links or tips I can usually figure it out myself.

I bought a Touch Pro on the big auction site and just got it activated on the first try with Boost. The CSR was wonderful (he was from the Dominican Republic). He said he would stay with me to get it running but it really didn't take long at all. Now I just have to figure out how to work the phone - lol !

But I wanted to say thank you to the op and everyone else for these threads. I had a blackberry on t-mobile that was $25 more per month than Boost and it wasn't even unlimited anything ! This will save me over $200 a year ! Happy Holidays !

I am new here so please ignore any of my "cell phone / technology" ignorance please. I am currently with Boost using a VERY old phone (Motorola i450 - this was a replacement phone for one that was damaged after the 1 year warranty). In between then I had goto Sprint & purchased the LG Lotus (not the touch screen). I want to switch it over to Boost. I have tried entering the MEID # on BoostMobile.com but it says that it can not be activated.

So...onto my question...has anyone else had "good" luck with switching the Lotus onto Boost? And if so...what did u do to get it switched? I know a phone call will be needed probably...but other than that? Please help! Thanks!

You can only swap Sprint phones by calling into Boost customer service.

Don't tell them it's a Sprint phone though. Also odds are equal on the Lotus between those being activated and those that can't be.

Don't you have to start with a Boost Mobile phone first ? I was under the impression that first you set up your Boost mobile account with a boost phone. Then call in and ask them to switch to the sprint phone.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

There are two ways to make the swap. One is to start with a Boost CDMA account. The other is to switch from IDEN to CDMA using the Sprint phone ESN/MEID.

The Lotus works fine on Boost. I had one on for my daughter for over a year until she wanted to switch to an 8330.

Just tell them you want to switch your account from IDEN to CDMA and you have the DEC. Then give them the DEC for the Lotus. If they ask you if it is a Boost phone, tell them yes. They should give you the programming information. If the CSR says that it can't be activated because it is a Sprint phone, wait a few minutes and try again, NBD.

Call Boost. Tell the CSR you activated a used phone and therefor it's not doing the automatic provisioning. Tell them you need the "manual device programming instructions".

That will get you going. Be sure to write down the MSL (unlock code) and the MSID.
