Right. But the problem is that hofo people used to complain the stores don't want to do a HUP for them. So what he wants in the first place may not be possible at launch?
I don't care what the HUP price will be, what the data plans will be, what color the damn iphone will be. I want a clear answer for ONE question:
- I have a damn good retention plan I don't want to change even if they give me a phone that can call Jesus himself. I don't care renewing my contract for 3 years, I don't even care if they stack it over what's remaining of my current contract (I'm with Rogers).
I just want to know if I go in a store on Friday, and presuming I am eligible for a HUP (my last HUP was iPhone 3G), will the store force me to change my plan? I have a data plan to (6G/30$).
Again, I don't care resigning a contract but there's no way I will change my plan.
They haven't in the past, I don't see why they would start now.
This sounds terrible. Go into the store.. get an iPhone 4. Get locked in for 3 years. Now when i call rogers retentions why would they even do anything for me? Im already locked in for 3 years? They could just laugh at me..
They won't laugh at you.. but you'd definitely be at advantage to negotiate a retentions plan over the next few days and keep it noted on your account.
Just so I understand because I never bought an iphone on launch date (except the 3GS which I purchased fully from Apple).
On launch date, in store, the only KNOWN way (based on previous years) to get an iphone 4 would be to sign for a new plan?
So if someone is paying 500$ per months for some crazy *** plan, he would be obligated to sign for one of the 3 or 4 iphone 4 plans available? He can't simply HUP and keep his plan (but re-sign a new contract for 3 years)?
Was this how it was done for iphone 3G and iphone 3GS? No one got an iphone on launch date without signing a new iphone plan?
Which store you camping at? :P You doing a Rogers/Fido store, or Apple?
I'm really wondering what time Fairview will unlock the doors to let people inside.
Dono yet. I might goto fairview. But not sure.

No. At least I hope not. When I upgraded from a 3G to 3Gs last year I kept my same plan. I just had to extend my contract another year (was only 1 year in).

I second that. I've negotiated with Retentions on a plan and spoke to a Rogers store who can confirm that they will not be touching my plan and that I can call Retentions afterward to change my plan accordingly.

I anticipated this date and already negotiated my awesome retention plan ahead of time. I gave it enough bill cycle window and it's already taken effect .

well prob is.. its not that some stores dont allow it, its cause some sales rep might not even want to do a upgrade, and save the iphones for new activation because they make more commissions on a new activation compared to upgrade.. thats for non apple stores that i am talking about.
