    Here's a list of Rogers phones I've tried with my Chatr Sim card that work.

    Samsung Corby Pro Plus (which is 79.99 at Futureshop right now until Aug 19)
    Blackberry Pearl 8100
    Blackberry Curve 8310
    Blackberry Curve 8520
    Samsung Hype

    The Lock is Tyed to the SIM Card.

    It works because the first 8 digits of the SIM Card of Chatr & Rogers are the same. (89302720)

    The Fido one doesn't work because the first 8 digits of the SIM Card is: 89302370

    89302720 = Network ID 302-720 = Rogers
    89302370 = Network ID 302-370 = Microcell

    Well alot of disappointed Wind customers have to go somewhere. I'm one of those customers, and I dont really care so much for feeding the big 3 anymore. at least ill get a service. I know I'm sounding Ignoant, but yea Wind does not want to help it's customer base anymore, and they are writing themselves off.

    schnitzer,

    It is not as per the "SIM card serial number" but interacting with the MCC and MNC.

    See ETSI TS 100 906 for the technical details.

    Yes that all makes sense because I was also able to activate a Rogers Prepaid SIM card on Chatr.

    ugh

    Okay, Fido and Rogers may share towers, but they are different on the back end. As far as the phone is concerned a chatr sim is the same as a Rogers sim! Fido has different servers and different everything on the back end! (Mostly)

    Solo Virgin and Bell are seriously all the same system and back end servers/routers.... Not the case with Fido/Rogers... Chatr/Rogers yes. (I know this because I work there.)

    It also has to do with the sim number! (I asked my supervisor!) LOL

    Another thing.... Fido now has UNLIMITED DATA/CALLING/TEXTING to Canada AND the U.S for 90$ a month!.... If you don't want the data it's $50 for just the unlimited calling to Canada and the US (Includes texts) & there are no zones like the previous retention plans.

    Hey, echoes368, maybe you would be the one best able to comment on this. I bought a Chatr Nokia C3 for my Rogers account. Put the sim in, even though the initial startup screen flashed "Chatr", it showed Rogers once it fulled booted up. Voice and sms worked no problem, but I couldn't connect to internet, even with wi-fi enabled. It kept saying I needed a packet data plan. It would not even ask me to choose between wap and wi-fi. I changed the packet data access pt from "chatrisp.apn" to "isp.apn", but to no avail. The problem, I think, I'm not sure, but I'm guessing, is that there is no way to change the web account name on the C3. It's "Chat-r Web" whereas on the Rogers' C3 it's "wap".

    The only workaround I found was to use Opera Mini instead of the native browser. The native browser must be programmed to only use Chatr's web account settings. I guess even though I can go online via wi-fi using Opera Mini, I cannot have the option to use Rogers' wap browsing.

    BTW, the Bestbuy rep told me Rogers sims will work on Chatr phones but Chatr sims won't work on Rogers phones. From what I've read on this thread, I guess that's not true.

    EDIT: OK, after poking around the menus some more, I think I have figured out that I need to create a new profile with Rogers' settings to enable wap browsing. I think I need to enter an address for Rogers' home portal. Does anyone know what that addresss is?

    You could very easily change the product code an install Rogers firmware or you could even install the Nokia generic firmware. That will remove any restrictions that Chatr has imposed on that phone (except for the sim lock).

    How do I do that? (I'm kinda tech-retarded! )

    Update: I think I got it. Created a new profile using internet.com as the access point, and it seems to work.

    Download two programs
    1. Navifirm
    2. NSS (Nokia Software Suite)

    Look up the applicable product code that you want to use and then use NSS to change the product code embedded in your phone. Then run Nokia Software Updater and install the firmware.

    From the posts in this thread, a Chatr-activated sim will work on Rogers' phone. Does that also mean a Chatr sim can be activated by Rogers?

    Montreal Chatr SIM in Rogers locked IPhone 4?????

    Hello guys

    I am in Montreal and planning to switch to Chatr Wireless as my Fido contract is finishing in March 2011, have already got a Rogers IPhone 4 thinking it should work without unlock!

    Could anyone check / confirm this already??

    Im little bit confuse weather I should keep the rogers IPhone 4 AS IS or to unlock it to use with Chatr? .........
