Awesome! I got my information from BlueAnt tech support. I'm glad that BlueAnt "saw the light" on that aspect of the design.

Well, after putting the Q2 through it's paces since I bought it on July 31st., I've decided to return it.
Don't get me wrong.. the Q2 by far exceeds all my other BT devices as far as sound quality and function, but with the constant dropped calls and connection issues that I've been getting with this device, I find troublesome.

At first I thought it was my Moto Droid that was rooted with Bugless Beast V 0.4, so I unrooted to stock Froyo 2.2, and still had the connection issue.
I even tried the Q2 paired with my neighbor's D2, still the same issue arises.
I strongly doubt that its defective, especially after reading about and talking to other Q2 users having the same issues even after trading it in for a new one.

My other problem is the excessive wind noise. One of the biggest features that I look for in a BT is noise/wind suppression. It would seem that the Q2 in some cases amplifies the wind noise even more.
Even when putting the T1 through it's paces I never had this bad of a wind noise problem.

So until Blue Ant comes out with a major firmware update for the Q2, I do believe I'll just adhere to using my venerable V1 and JB Prime.

it sounds like you have a defective headset; I have found just the opposite to be the case, using the Q2 with my HTC EVO..The T1 I had always dropped out when I walked around, or moved too much.

I keep the connection no matter what I am doing; walking around, sitting still, in the car, or any where else; plus, I have made alot of calls outside, when windy, and the person on the other end always reports they hear little if any wind noise..

Sorry to hear you have had issues with yours; I love my Q2..

Similar to the problems posted above, I plan to return my current Q2 due to range issues and try another one, just in case it is defective. I can tell you that the range issue is not something new for BlueAnt, as most of my BlueAnts have had range issues.

Also, for what it's worth, I was driving down the highway yesterday with my roof down but windows up (and I have a windscreen) and I was able to have a conversation with someone while doing 75 MPH without them literally even realizing that my roof was down at all. That's pretty amazing...

Here's to hoping that the range issue will be resolved once I exchange this first Q2...

    Any Retailers Aside From AT&T?

Has anyone found the Q2 at any other retailer in the US (not online only), aside from AT&T? I'm asking because AT&T is charging full price and I'm positive that once the distribution is more widespread we'll be able to find it for at least $99.99 on sale, if not better (I'm referring to brick and mortar retailers - I know online stores will carry it for less).

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

As far as I've seen thus far (with the exception of some online retailers), AT&T is the only one that's carrying the Q2. But given time (just like with the Q1 when it first came on the scene only through Sprint PCS), you'll be able to pick one up else where.
I do believe I'll wait to get another Q2 when that happens (had a really bad experience with AT&T... they really need to work on their customer service and people skills... at least in Las Vegas, NV. that is).
Don't get me wrong from my previous post about being dissatisfied with the Q2.. I really liked the device. I just got tired of the dropped calls and lack of wind noise cancellation. Hopefully by then there will be a firmware update to improve upon this.

The 3rd one is a charm. Headset works much better than other 2. However voice that talks to you needs to be much louder. Also, the first firmware upgrade should allow you to upgrade without a2DP as the q1 allowed you to do. Otherwise, you must turn the headset off to hear alarms etc thru the iphone4's speaker. When the phone rings it is then a challenge to answer it when you turn the headset back on to allow it to connect before it goes to voicemail.

OK I posted my review for the Q2 on my "other thing on the internet that keeps me busy" other than HoFo.

    Solid review - thanks Andy.

After a few weeks with this device and my iPhone 4, it's still a solid 2 thumbs up for me. I downloaded the BlueAnt updater (after I registered my headset at their site), and upgraded to Firmware 1.1 (it comes with 1.0), which has some minor bug fixes.

I've found the range, voice prompts, and other features work rock solid so far. The only thing I'm waiting for now, is the BlueAnt app for the iPhone, albeit it's a minor thing for me.

I agree that the power switch is a little challenging to flip, but at least they have one, so kudos to them for that. I'm now looking into modifying a Jabra Earjel to fit this headset, to see how that works. Other than that, I *might* actually go get one of those custom ear gels, as this looks to be a keeper.

Nice to know that Blueant has already come out with a firmware upgrade. Hopefully it raises the sound for the voice prompts as it is so low you can barely hear it and allows you to turn off A2dp like on the q1. Will report back.

Interesting that you say that was a "firmware" update; when I called their tech support people, they said it was just "software" that allows you to do firmware updates at a later time, NOT an actual firmware "update"..
does your phone/headset do anything different than it did with the firmware that came originally with the headset?
    thanks

Their rep was not fully informed on what their product mgmt team has rolled out for the Q2. Yes, there is a new software application that enables you to install firmware updates on their various headset models (only runs on XP or 7 32-bit, btw), and once you install it and follow the steps for the Q2, you will be prompted to install the 1.1 firmware for that model.

I can't tell any big differences on 1.1 over 1.0.

As a follow on to my comment about modifying a Jabra Earjel to fit the Q2, I ended up modifying the Q2 instead by taking a razor blade and cutting off the small circular nub that prevented it to fit in the earjel. Yeah, this thing ain't going back to the store now. ;-)

Once I confirmed I had a good fit, I took a few drops of super glue to secure the eargel to the Q2. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the end result:
    - very comfortable
    - incoming sound is more directly piped into the ear canal
    - finding myself no longer having to fumble to get the stock ear piece to fit properly (I was constantly reinserting to get that "perfect" fit" so it would stay in my ear)
