nokia 5230 hardcore modding

does any one kno if it possible to replace nokia 5230 cpu and ram with n 97? sinces it faster and more memory? would it just be physically removing it and replacing it? if so who sels jus the cpu and ram chips?

Probably not, as it is impossible to still do this as the PCB is too small to solder...

so ur saying becuz of the size of the circuit board it would be near impossible to solder?? or because of the cpu chip size itself?? because i can take it to a electronic shop and micro solder it it if will fit or even do it myself, since i have a bit of soldering experience

I know that soldering on this level is a black art but to say it is impossible when you don't know the skill set of the OP is a bit dismissive.

I do not know where to get CPU/Memory component new. Look for an N97 on eBay that has had the flip detach or other such non-main board damaging accident for a donor phone. Then you can take a look and see if you can Frankenphone it together.

Also, go to FCC site and look at the internal component photos of the two devices. (search on the FCC ID number) You might be able to rule out such a switch based upon the free look you get there. That would, if you saw it was impossible because of packaging differences, save you the trouble of hunting down a broken N97.

it is not just a matter of soldering, the phone is engineered around the cpu so it will simply not work. To solder something like that you need a clean room and some pretty high end equipment. From the idea it sounds interesting but it will not work. Better off to get a new handset.
