Yup. Replaced by the Incredible.
that was way short lived WOW!!!
I am not surprised this happened due to how verizon was knocking out and announcing android phones...
I use one, it's still a good phone but compared to these newer droid phones it leaves a little to be desired.
The Droid Eris is a good phone. But it reached an equilibrium with Android 2.1 plus the last update. At that point it works perfectly. Going further might probably mess it up. At this point it no longer has any growth potential. But it will still serve well as a low end phone, like something you can give to a younger member of the family. It works just as good or better than most Android low to mid ends to day.
I am surprised how LG took the Droid Eris concept, repackaged it then ran away with the low and middle end market with the Optimus One series. Look closely between the two phones, there are design similarities. If HTC took the Droid Eris design, put GSM on it, enhanced the memory, make the CPU 600MHz, and put Froyo on it, it probably would have been more successful than the current Legend/Aria/Wildfire lineup it has now.

i heard alot good about roms,hacking,etc..... but ive heard bad too so before i try i will do a great deal of research before i try
My Droid Eris is still going strong. I love my phone and see no reason to upgrade any time soon. As much as I like the upcoming HTC Thunderbolt, I may just way till mid 2011 or even September when my NE2 credit kicks in to upgrade.
I use the Droid Eris every day. It is a fine phone, but I find it unresponsive (slow). Many times, an action doesn't occur until 5 or more seconds after pressing a button. I am too cheap to buy a replacement right now, but the Eris will be gone before year's end.
To all Eris owners out there, is a 5 second delay normal? I never had this phone.

Yes, I agree the Eris small form factor is great . . . and a main reason I bought it. The slow response (together with zero feedback during the lag) is frustrating, and any extra keypresses made while waiting do come back to haunt one. Yesterday, it took almost 20 sec to place a call. I wish I knew what the heck it was DOING when not responding to its owner!
Sounds like rooting and installing a new lightweight ROM would help you out.
What I don't like about my ERIS
