Installing non-VM apps on Rumor Touch

.3g2 is actually a video.... you can make the phone to play a video when someone calls a .qcp its sound. If you notice, when someone calls you will see like a "black square" in your screen, that is where the video is supposed to play. it works tho, but I didnt like it that way

when someone calls me i dont have a black square but it shows a square showing my wallpaper in the background. why is that?

because is a .3g2 not a .qcp. try to email yourself a .qcp and set it as ringtone and you will see the difference

Ive done the 3g2 method for the ringtones, assigned them and the caller id photo of the appropriate person still shows up... I use a converter called FLV to AVI MPEG WMV 3GP MP4 iPOD Converter 5.2.0603. With this converter it automatically cancels out the video information seeing as how there is none from a mp3 and just converts the audio to 3g2. This leaves the audio in and allows my ID photo to still show up.

Plus the audio quality of .qcp's arent that good. Transferring mp3's straight into 3g2 allows higher quality...

Anyone know of any apps to change the graphical interface of the phone? I really would love to put icons on my homepage...

thats not possible, for that to be ann app, someone would have to write there own phone software to match every key press with this phone, and then become god and convert cell phone software into a cell phone J2ME app.... better off just makeing your own cell phone software, which brings me to my wonderful idea that i just thought of like 6min 45.6453 sec ago... giv or take a few seconds

what if we do some how manage to completely unlock this phone? then all the wants could possibly be fulfilled, correct? we could use Brew SDK/LG SDK/JAVA SDK to create our own software for this phone, correct? if im right so far or even half right, then we could have our own custom Howard Forums LG Rumor touch (the LGHF510

) cell phone right? we could use our joint effort to design our own UI that would be compatible and replace the old shyt that was originally there, right? then we could at that point make our own apps, or make the phone more app friendly to allow us to run most of the apps that currently wont run on the phone. let me know if im going crazy

i would love icons on the hompage too......its plain with just the wallpaper

instead of jumping to jailbreaking the phone, which i think will never happen since this is just a budget phone that will probs be phased out in a year or so, we should try to tweak apps like L player and gmail notifier so that it works well. i wish the gmail app would notify us of new mail as soon as we get it instead of having to go check ourselves.

also i wish we could get yahoo alerts on our phones... does anyone know of a good yahoo email app like the gmail one?

yup.. its more like heres the box [] and....

yea if only i had some knowledge in cellphone software/software design/programming and what not.
and im always determined to do these kind of things.
and with all the SDK tools offered that are compatible with this phone, pretty much anything is possible once we get to the point where we could even install our custom OS on it. i would actually love to see this kinda happen in the following months/years... im gonna try to toy around all 3 SDK packages to see what i can learn from them. and gonna use google and what not on how to actually get this plan into effect.

and i found some VERY useful PDF's and i put em in a zip file for your convenience
EVERYTHING JAVA!!! theres a reference guide that has a list of books you can check out, a 562 page pdf with everything there is to know about java, a java and DB2 guide, and last but not least, a J2ME step by step guide
