Have you guys found a way to make multiple playlists on the native media player for the RT??? I don't like any of the mp3 player apps you can download...they're way to buggy for me. There has to be a way to do this????

Is this Google Voice app still working for you guys on the Rumor Touch? It logs in successfully for me as it auto-populated the GV number field in settings, but other than that, I don't see anything in my inbox nor am I able to make any data calls (I figure since it's an unlimited data plan, that's the way to go than using my precious 300 minutes).
gv4me isn't a voip app. Using data to make call means using http to send your number to google voice and have it call you, better to just have it call out using your phone. It is basically a text and autodialer app. You can call out the same way if you know what numbers to dial. For ease of use you can save the numbers it dials to your phonebook and call out much faster. Don't really use it often feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Wait, how have you guys gotten the "Voice" setting to work at all? Specifically, what have you set as the Pause symbol? On my phone, it always tries to make the call without pause symbols at all (which obviously doesn't work), no matter what I put in the field. I have to use the "Data" setting.
I've come up with a phone-native solution, but I'm curious as to why it would work for other RT owners but not for me.![]()
After trying, I couldn't get it work either. It puts it as 1 long string without a pause...tried "P" and "," but neither worked.
But then again, I can't see any of my GV voicemails/texts in the Inbox either...it always shows as 0. Can you actually get a full listing of your voicemails/texts?
The Inbox shows only the texts (I don't think it does voicemails) that you haven't read yet. Personally, I think the gv4me inbox is kinda useless if you have GV forward your texts to your phone. You can also set GV preferences to send you a text of your voicemails' transcripts, and you can go to the mobile website to listen to them if you really need to.
I turn off automatic updating of the gv4me inbox because I have gv4me launch on phone startup and run in the background constantly. Updating eats up the battery life.
Since I use the methods outlined in the thread I linked to in my previous post, there are really only two functions I use gv4me for: to text a new number or a contact I don't have the "GV link" number for yet (see other thread), or to call a number that's not in my contacts. The phone can handle the rest, if you're smart. (Gives a new definition to "smartphone," yeah?)
i have made my own ringtone and added it to my phone putting the file in the dcmi folder on media card and when i go to add a ringtone i go ,main /setting/ringers/incoming calls/contacts/then a list comes up other ringers no ringers etc and a assigned media i click there and get my ringtones to work, OK but when i try and and change my messages, ringtone it shown no ringers download ringer etc and no assigned media folder it does show my audio but there nothing in there my question is ,
where do you put the files so i can changes the ringtone for the messages instead of using the default ones or it just works for the incoming calls only
and can you set other ringtones to certain people that calls you with own ringtones .

I think you're at a dead end for that method, sadly. I believe the alternate method discovered over at CDMAGurus is the only completely foolproof, phone-native, non-backdoor way of doing things. (Don't worry, it's not as intimidating as it looks--he wrote a DOS command to do all the hard stuff for you.) It does require you to put your phone in DM mode so that you can access the filesystem, though.
Yes. Two ways, in fact:Originally Posted by oldpot
1. Main Menu -> Settings -> Ringers -> Incoming Calls -> Contacts -> One Contact -> select contact
2. Contacts -> select contact -> Contact Details -> Default Ringer
You can similarly set different vibration patterns for when these contacts call you.
However, as far as I know, there is no way to customize messaging tones for a particular contact.
