    update on iradio issue

i last reported finally getting iradio to install by using a different version of the file. not just from a diff location, but file name was slightly diff, w/the added "+1.5" at the end. later i tried to see if & what might be diff. only thing i was able to detect was (i think) a 1 byte diff in 1 & a 1 or 2 byte diff in the other, of the jad/jar files. i had also reported that this one finally would install & load, but would not load the stations, nor accept station loaded by myself. i tried many times. no go. later, it decided to act differently, by bringing up an "activation page, asking for $1.99/$9.99 to get an activation code. it said this had to be done at drhu.org website. that url was a dead one. additionally & curiously, now even the files that wouldn't install b4, as well as the new one, produced this dumb activation page. pretty dumb, if for 1 thing, the app would never install or work, but even stupider that address given for pymt is dead. later, i tried to remove the files of the ones that wouldn't install, thinking that might somehow cause a conflict. no change was observed after trying that. i was peeved & perplexed. i refused to give up cuz i was convinced it should be doing more. and so i just kept trying & trying...perhaps to WILL it to work...finally, after countless tries, out of nowhere, it installed & loaded & worked! works everytime now. too bad though, that all the reports were correct...it will only play 10 to 20 sec at a time, then stop for awhile. in settings, i have no idea what "single or double radio means, but found no performance difference between them. allowing it to play for awhile did not seem to change this issue either. just keeps cycling on/off forever. i also tried at least a dozen stations to see if that mattered or if the station bitrate mattered, but while some variables here, they all continuously cycle on/off. nothing will play steady. a couple times i thought i found some steady playing station, but all it turned out to be in those cases was
cycling w/o any break space, where u didn't know it until listenibg for a few cycles. too bad...looks & works great other than that. i even found a grateful dead station & a howard stern station. i believe this app was developed for android. i hope someone can figure how to fix that otherwise intolerable issue. at least i got somewhere with this finally & got it out of my system.

has anyone found a working radio player yet, or a way to fix? incidently, if anyone is looking into this issue (is this VM facism?), please look into the "radiotime" internet service. it is fantastic good player i've used for yrs on pc. i think it uses .aspx file ext. if not, what about "beam up" function, or "tractor beam"?

It's not on the browser's end that pages are optimized for mobile phones. All that the browser does is identify itself as being mobile. It falls to web developers to make a simpler version of the site that doesn't require high screen resolution, is smaller to download, etc. Those types of sites are fine in the Netwave browser because they're simple; I'm talking about those that aren't.

As far as connection issues with Opera specifically, I haven't come across anything like that myself. When I can't access data services, all apps (not just OM) are affected. Come to think of it, though, it's been a couple months since I've gotten the "Content blocked by operator" message. Sweet.

No offense, Nowurtalkin, but if you would use capital letters at the beginnings of your sentences and proper punctuation, it wouldn't be such an annoying task just to get through your posts. Not to mention paragraphs and maybe even some parenthesis here and there.

I think you often have valid points and aren't lacking in intelligence but the way you type makes me frustrated and aggravated.

no offense taken. caps are not truly necessary. that's a head trip (imho). no more than those who use all caps, truly guilty of rudeness or yelling at ppl. periods are enough to delineate begin/end sentences. (along w/the break in space) just as easy to read either way.

on paragraph's, a look at majority of my posts should reveal major use of, but lately i didn't as much, trying to shorten post size (that's dumb).

(as) (to) (good) (grammar), (punctuation), (and) (parenthesis)...(i) (e)(m)(p)(l)(o)(y) (a)(l)(l)!!!???%^%*&*!!!.

also, (you might consider)....that when you tell someone they're intelligent...(that if they were not), how intelligent is it to tell them so, (or if they are), do they need to be told? (just sayin')...no offense (as well).

(note to "other readers"): i replied to starlit...(with a long raving rant) (not really), but i spoke my mind (on the issues). i came close to posting....(no jeff...no...don't push the button!) but in the end, i decided to spare you (or me getting beat up), so i pm'd it. tons of lunitic ravings incl...(but starlit can charge you a buck ea), if you wanna see it (or haven't had your fair share of abuse yet today)...i gave Him (what?....personal pronoun, no? now what?) permission to rebroadcast any parts of. (lol). (by the way starlit, don't be frustrated and aggravated, that my job!)

*i need to "topic (legal up)"...(ummm)....(a "working" radio app???)....(a working player) (or fix) to read id3 tags (for others.)..i don't care (that much), (plus native player might allow me to make some sort of tags), (yes/no?) ....("stun" setting??)

in my posts, to the best of my ability, i give examples of things to validate them. comments like that are just generalizations, no matter how many might jump on the b/wagon. i would ask for 1 or 2 or 3 specific examples, of what you reference to say that. i say that what i post (close to all of it) is not resistive toward any such "meeting of the minds".

yes, i get that it's an effort on the part of the developers to offer "mobil ized" versions, but i thought also that some of this was browser ability as well. (i could swear that there was also some "browser exclusive" abilities to do actual mobile optimization..maybe not). sorry, not trying to belabor it, but i'm fairly certain that some browsers do better at rendering "whatever", regardless of mobile/desktop versions, so is what you're saying, that it doesn't matter as to one or the other "developer version" (if any offered) but only the particular browsers ability to render, in general...one maybe being better at it than another (to stuff onto phone screen?). so i thought most of the web content on the phone was mobile optimized, yet you are saying that even when that is the case, opera will still do a better job, regardless?

yes, i checked thoroughly. it was only opera that wouldn't connect. for several hours, then it started working again. what do you mean by "content blocked by operator"? i don't recall seeing that. (hope you can read & comprehend me. my spelling, grammar, and whatnot, is atrocious. i am from meepsor...i mean france)

i have a question for you about this. i don't know for sure what "wallpaper" is, but i assume it is the red vm splash screen seen when you unlock the screen & when there are no other menus or apps open, or whatever you might custom change it to. 1st off, i remember reading things here that seemed to imply you needed "special stuff" to change the stock screen & add your own. maybe i misunderstood that? i had very little idea what i was doing, but i changed mine easily. maybe it has to do w/where you get the custom wallpaper?...or what form it's in? do you have any idea about that part of it?

a 2nd question is about the importance of "the problem" of wallpaper resizing. i must be missing something here. i notice that when i open the phone, there automatically is the messaging menu showing, which covers up any wallpaper behind. you have to hit the back button, as far as i can tell, to see the downsized wallpaper. but i cannot understand why anyone would care about that. when you have the phone open, normally you would be using some app or in some menu, so no wallpaper can be seen, again, unless you back out of anything. at that point, the phone is being used for nothing other than displaying the wallpaper, but that is accomplished w/phone closed & in full size. as i was writing this, i thought of a possible use & so i went to try...i thought maybe you might want the wallpaper showing while listening to music. that is the only logical use i can think of. i tried w/music playing via blueftp, so i could send it to background. yes! you can then have wallpaper showing...but the only problem is...that the lock screen/dark kicks in very soon. that's true also if phone is closed. so i can't fathom a use for this, yet you call it "a problem" (the resizing issue, that is). in order for it to be a problem, doesn't it 1st have to be important (and in this case, even possible to impliment beyond a few seconds)?

i have a definite additional observation about "conducting true meeting of the minds...", but i'll pm that & in it's place, insert something on topic:

i previously reported on how iradio wouldn't install in my phone no matter i tried. there were a few responses, but they all seemed to repeat i should try things i already reported as having done. except 1 guy had a good observation about possible issue w/what pgm might be used to unzip files (except that wasn't the issue in my case) nevertheless a good call.

anyways, later i reported having got it to install, but now (then) it wouldn't open. nobody had a fix. then mysteriously, yesterday, it started opening, but refused to load any stations, giving errors. then later, it began to open to an "activation page, asking for money to be paid on a website that is dead. then later on, it started working perfectly (aside from the fact it's useless due to constant stopping/starting of play). tried many times & it worked everytime (in that regard). now today, it went back to giving an error code when trying to open. and now, a little while after that, it is back to opening to the "activation/money page".

out of curiosity, anyone have any idea why of all the ppl who previously said it worked or worked but sucky, no one else reported any of the above happenings. i just wonder if it's phone, software, network, vm, or what, because there are certain "other issues" seen on this phone that i have reported here & asked about, but no response. those issues were clearly stated (hanging up & no star calls). all of these issues began after i started installing or trying to install non vm apps. i'm not trying to imply there is a connection, cuz i don't have enough evidence to show or know that, but it helps me to comply with thread topic...and provides more fodder for beating up my grammatical skills. i'm trying to determine if this phone needs to be exchanged again, or not. please form 3 lines. to the left, those who have more probs with how i communicate. (please don't hesitate, as i need to impliment as many changes as i can b4 the alziemer's sets in), in the middle line, those with nothin to say (my..what a lg & handsome group!) & to the right, anyone who feels they can get a laff outta humoring my t. kazinski(sp?) style mutterings.

nowurtalkin...If you read the thread, you must have found a few people wondering why the wallpaper (I wont explain what wallpaper is since you should know) you assign does not fix itself by expanding into place. This is a minor issue (major for some) but an issue nonetheless. There are people working on such problems so that people like yourself can benefit. If you don't think its important, like I said, keep it to yourself and move on.

The only time it needs to be turned on is if I'm carrying the phone somewhere or not using it for an extended period. I have been waiting for more experienced techie people to figure out how to do it using some of the software programs like LPNST or QPST. I don't have the cell phone knowledge to play with it myself without bricking the phone.
don't know if u ever found a solution of any kind to that, but i noticed some things about my phone i thought might be noteworthy to whoever may be working on this issue. 1st, i'm not sure if this is true of all rumor touch's, because mine def has some problems doing some things it shouldn't, but i noticed that the screen does not lock/go dark when online, in email/im, or in most if not all apps. so only when using phone or menu does it do so (i think. let me give that a quick test to check that again)...

...ok, yeah...above is what my phone is doing. i get no lockscreen except in phone function (includes text) & in regular menus. that's it. nothing else. not in internet, cameras, email/im, or apps. (whoops...it does lock in native media player>SOUND>DCIM, but not any video, sound, or images in blueftp.

now, if that is not true of all these phones, then THAT (whatever is not set right) would point the towards creating a toggle.

so #1, that covers a lot of rumor touch usage time where this is a non issue, which i didn't realize this to be the case before. so a lot less "impact" as to that. next, u stated "after all, if i'm actively using the phone, don't need...", but you don't mean using the "phone function", just the device. because it is prolly the most important thing when using phone func., so as not to mess up phone calls or initiate calls u don't want. i'm sure you realize that, but you stated "only time it needs to be turned on is when carrying around or not using for awhile. but using phone, as "a phone", esp if not using hands free, makes it imperative, i would think.

in any event, i wanted to bring up the fact of all that functionality i listed where there is no screen lock (unless my phone is broken in that way also), as i was thinking if you hooked up w/someone who was working on the file system or whatever it takes, and since no one has found an adj to this yet (afaik) then maybe they should look for code that is common to backlighting & phone/menu but not common to all the other functions (where the phone doesn't lock) if that makes any kind of sense??? yeah, i know this is over a week later...whaddya think?

Since you asked, I don't think that makes much sense. However, I do think it would be nice to increase the time before lockout, as fofopuka stated so concisely. Sometimes it can be a real pain.

In regards to nowurtalkin... The capital letters help to break it up from looking like a big run on sentence. It's not bad for you because you're the one writing it but for the person trying to read, it actually helps separate the sentences with capitalization in addition to the period. This is not always necessary but in a post that is as long as yours tend to be, it would make a huge difference.

The reason I mentioned that I think you have some intelligence was not because I thought you "needed to hear it" but because I wanted you to understand that I think you have the mental capacity to 1)actually use capitalization so it doesn't give me a headache to read, and 2)that if it were easier to read, what you have to say could maybe actually be helpful rather than a waste of time. I also mentioned this because I didn't want you to think that I assumed you were stupid.

Grammar includes capitalization, and the parenthesis would help when you're rambling, to separate thoughts. You do use them, but not in all the places where they would help.

And furthermore, I am not a "him", I am a woman, a "her"... thank you very much.

i'm starting a reply here after only reading the 1st line or so, because of as follows: ..."if you read thread..." [i have stated more than once & from the very git, that i read the entire thread (plus much, much more), b4 i ever posted anything]. conversely, to say "if i did", or 'what should've happened'...if i did....is wrong, because ea case assumes something that is not so.

i always speak the truth & never have any hidden agendas. i say exactly, honestly & frankly what i mean. the "if" is unecessary, as it predicates maybe i didn't really read stuff, or it assumes the attitude that i was less than forthright when i said i wasn't sure what wallpaper meant (for certain?) as you say you will not "speak to that" cuz "i should know! that's rude. i not only was/am not for sure on that, but i did describe logically what i thought it meant. here, by stating things with "that tack", you show that you don't take me or my word for just what it was. that is most def "your issue" & you are simply wrong. it would've been more appropriate (imho) for you to not assume that way & to just confirm to me whether my carefully worded description of what i was "pretty sure" it was, was right or wrong. unnecessary & your mistake to be sure.

also, while i did read all i could read, not only early on, but along the way, (keeping as current as i can)....that doesn't mean i necessarily understood or absorbed or remembered everything. maybe you know & remember & understand all those things, but i sure don't. and mind you, i was (in a sensible manner i think) mainly focusing on just a certain few things, in fact a very few.

this brings to mind... it was maybe you or maybe someone else (sorry if mistaken) that tried telling me quite awhile back, that i was all over the place with too many diff things...but you were wrong there as well, because as i explained and gave examples, i was sticking with the same issue at the time, but you were misunderstanding my points. i tried to get you straight on that, but you came back with more of the same & you even said i was blatantly contradicting myself, which i was not. a quick ex of this, is where you said the contradiction was me stating i didn't talk about "contacts". the reason for that misunderstanding (on your part) was because of my misunderstanding of what you were talking about when you mentioned "contacts". a careful look back at that, would reveal that i even told you b4 that, that i didn't know what you meant. that is because my 1st reference was not to "contacts" in the contact list sense, but i was referring to contact problems w/virgin mobile, not list. so again, that was a case of your wrong assumptions & failure to simply believe what someone has just told you. i didn't bother at that point, to explain it any further. already there had been 2 or 3 other ppl who were telling you you were treating ppl wrong in that respect. at the same time & all along, you rcv'd nothing but praise & respect from me.

a PERFECT example of this poor attitude by you, which is undeserved entirely & completely off base....is at the end of your post above, where you have the gaul to say: "...so people LIKE YOURSELF can benefit. (you must mean ppl like myself, who have better social skills?)....can benefit. (i have done nothing but heap praises upon everyone on this board, from the git, who has contributed to trying to make this phone better. NOTHING BUT! no criticisms whatsoever, except when recently a couple of you, in my opinion, were unfair to a poster who was very respectful in his posted opinions, where he simply questioned some things. calling him names & accusing him of stuff i didn't agree was the case at all, or fair, in any way, shape or form.

but that has little or nothing to do with my treatment & feelings of how beneficial i thought all have been here. i said nothing whatsoever, ever, afaik, to express any sentiment that i didn't think stuff here was important. i carefully worded my post, knowing how you tend to go "that way", to try to not project such a feeling. this is yet again, (regardless if you believe, understand, or not), a case of you wrongly characterizing someone. there was nothing in my post that was intended to say anything like that. you just "see it" that way. zero! i can see how you took it that way though. basically, it was a case of me asking you very politely if you could explain what i asked, so that it the issue WOULDN'T appear that way (like it wasn't important) because i already knew it must be important. i did not say anything to diminish the importance of anything. your attitude saw a hidden agenda. my query was only wanting to understand, not make a statement.

lastly, whether someone is/was wrong or right, w/their honest perceptions, it's only in your head, where you think it is your place, to try to direct what ppl should or shouldn't do, as in "keep it to themselves", or "where to go" (as in .."or move on"..), but not surprising that you see yourself as having that role. for your info, that is not your job.

i made the mistake, again, of asking you a valid, very well explained question about the wallpaper thing. i won't make that mistake again. i stand behind every word i said as perfectly valid & not in any way untoward to you. and again, ironically, you have totally missed the point of my question about the wallpaper. such is evident by what you say above re; "why the wallpaper does such & such". that's not what i asked about it. (yeah, i know...it's cause i don't know how to properly express myself..). my question had NO PERSONAL ELEMENTS contained. your reply is nothing but! you were advised numerous times to not do that, but to maybe send a pm. you chose not to again. i choose to answer to it here, at the risk of whatever...or perhaps there will be some support of what i'm saying that might be helpful to you. no apologies from me. i will continue to try to stay with the issues of the phone as i have always. i think you have exhibited a god complex.

i'll post this for a little while, then i'll remove it, because I choose to put it in, then censor...because I direct me.
