Installing non-VM apps on Rumor Touch

Just for reference the new rumor touch is coming with software version 8. And the walk around is no longer working. So before you warranty your phone out know that you may not be able to install apps and games anymore.

I have been going round and round with VM. 1st my phone died,opened the kbord after a few months, and poof, dead screen of..death. Anyways, after a couple of contacts with VM, they sent me another phone, (sans battery and back plate) all's well `til I try to get the phone and the computer together. The phone will charge, but my computer won't see the chip in the phone, (I use that work around) after a few more go arounds (I had an email thread going over a week with atleast 6 techs telling me everything from, "it was my fault", to that's the way the phone works) I got a new phone last week (6/20/2011) and it's just like the old phone, but..this one works.. properly I'm pretty sure, so far.
NOW, I don't know,the replacements LOOK new, they could be factory refurbs (that would tick me off, old phone was 3 months old)
So if you need a new old phone, piss and moan to VM, they'll cave, and send you one. remember to pull your back, batt and chip when you send yours back to `em.
It's all fun, the worse that could happen is they say, "NO"
In the coming months, I think many will abandon this phone, some really sweet androids will be dropping over the rest over the summer (I think it's sorta dumb too, kids'll want a brand new phone for school). You'd have to have some strange love affair with squinting at a small screen to stick with it.

Thanks davidtb, I have more stuff just hardly have time to upload to the folder. If there is something you are looking for let me know and I will see what I can come up with. But streaming music is the only thing that is not possible. Gave up on that. I had them send me a phone about two months ago because the ear piece speaker quit working and it came with battery and complete phone. I like the rumor touch it does what I need and the battery life is great. Bought my son one back at christmas last year also. I think the are refurbs also.

Pandora is streaming media and the rumor touch justvis not fast enough for it. The closest thing was iradio. It buffered all the time to the point it was unuseable.

Anyone found an exploit around the new Brew version installed on the newest LG Rumor Touch phones sold? The Media Card exploit is not working any more - I do not have a newer phone to test on - Anyone have any ideas or already stated them that I missed?

Are there any differences with the new build? Man I really wish there was a way to get HTC's Brew OS on this phone!

Found an IM app that will work with facbook chat called eBuddy. It will also chat on MSN, Yahoo, AIM, GTalk, MySpace, ICQ and Hyves or the eBuddy server all on one screen. Uploaded it to my mediafire folder if anybody wants it.

So... I downloaded iRadio and it installed, but it gives me a java.io.IOEXCEPTION: HTTP error when I hit 'LoadAllStations' Anyway how to fix that? My phone's version is VM510PV7.

Josh Iradio never really worked right for me so I deleated it. The only one that I found to halfway work is streaming radio. I will upload it to my mediafire folder. NOTE : It is a demo version and it also buffers alot and has some bugs. It will play 5-20 seconds then load for 2-3 seconds then start playing again 5-20 seconds. If you send it to background it still plays but you can no longer control anything even if you open it back up. You have to close the app then restart it. Also being a demo version after so log of playing you have to erase it and reinstall to work again. But it still was the best I have found. Have gave up for any streaming music I do not think it can download and process it fast enough to play properly. Also uploaded the new UC Browser 7.8 if anybody wants it.

soo i was broswing around on the rumors touch filesystem in bitpm and i found something under the ams folder i found these numbered folders with .jar and .jad files and other things in them so i saved one of the icons to my destop and it was a pic of one of the free games it comes with icons so could you just delete those files and add your own jar and jad file? i dont feel like bricking my phone and i already accadently deleted a file in the defualt img folder that was inside the mms folder XD so yeahh just wondering? i might try it and see what happens

yep it worked ^-^ i found a easy way to get your msl code http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991668 once you do that just open up bitpm and then go to ams and change one of the usless games jar and jad files to the one you want and tudah!

upcode qr reader works perfect on this phone im about to test out others now also i have version 8 os on my phone so this should work for everyone

great find. What happens if you just add a .jar and .jad? not replace them.

i tryed to add a jar and jad file without replaceing them but i couldnt seem to get it to work but i havent messed around with it much but i replaced my tetris game with scanlife qr and upc code reader and it works perfectly i also replace pacman with fast and furious and it also worked ill try messing around with it to see how it works just adding jar and jad files without removeing them but the last time i tryed it didnt seemed to work
