I used: http://www.cellunlock.net/Unlock_Tel...elushtcdes.htm
They said my IMEI is not in their database and has to be sent to HTC directly. Looking at 1 - 2 business days to get the unlock code from HTC![]()

Edit: I must emphasize that I don't actually own a Desire and probably won't be buying one for reasons of the almighty dollar, but I started this thread to help everyone keep all the SIM-unlocking facts together. If you send me a private message about this phone I probably won't have any answers for you. Happy unlocking!
Let's start this thread as a place to report:
1) Whether you were able to successfully obtain an unlock code for your Telus Desire - or not - and from which dealer.
2) Which non-Telus SIM you tried in the phone after unlocking, and how well the phone worked on that network.
I hope it's not out of line for people to name the vendors here, but it would be useful knowledge for lots of forum users. If it reaches the point that Telus Desire codes are easy to obtain, then clearly this thread won't be needed anymore.
Positive report #1:
In this case the eBay seller in question is "mobilexpresscanada".

Used http://www.gsmliberty.net and they were unable to get an unlock code as well. Had my order refunded.
Okay, good to know. When positive reports start coming in I'll edit the original post to reflect that.
I also used CellUnlock, mostly because they were advertising support for the Telus Desire and the coupon made it only $15.
Havent heard yet but since my phone is actually been purchased by a buddy in Toronto and will be a few days before it gets here I can wait for them to contact HTC.

https://www.mobileincanada.com is a no go as well..
Tried mobileincanada.com they refunded my order... No unlock code in their servers!
I tried canadaunlocked.ca but they couldn't do it and refunded me![]()
Tried the following with no luck:
mobileincanada.com
unlock-now.com
unlock-desire.com(unlockingonline.com)
all couldn't find the code.
Waiting on cellunlock, they posted a message saying they are now able to unlock the Telus Desire in one of their threads.
There is another thread in the buy/sell section where someone is/was selling an unlocked A8182, pm'ed them to see if they are willing to share where they got it unlocked.
^ I saw that thread as well.. I at first thought he was trying to scam someone because no one has been able to unlock their Telus Desire yet. I'm hoping I'm wrong though..
I tried and failed with unlockallcellular.com They also offered to do the HTC manufacturer method.
Just found this on e-bay. IMO the seller is asking a bit much($70) for the unlock codes.
Unlock code for the Telus Desire:

Same seller also has Unlocked Telus Desire listed:

Wow, the unlocking was $50 in the morning, and someone bought it for $30 yesterday, if you see the history. I also pm'd the person who was selling the Htc desire unlocked. No reply yet.
I just did it with the Ebay guy for $50. It seriously took 2 minutes to receive my code and it worked great!! Very expensive but I couldn't wait any longer. I had a new Desire sitting in the box on my desk. Too hard to resist!!
If i wasn't still waiting for cellunlock, i'd be tempted to go with the eBay guy. I messaged him this morning about the unlocked phones he was selling and he pointed me at his listing for the code. $60 is a bit too rich though. Hopefully i'll hear back from cellunlock soon. I'm ready to toss my old phone
