    Coverage issues in central Wisconsin

I spent this past weeked in Green Lake Wisconsin and I wasn't getting any reception. After checking tmobile's coverage map, it was all grey which meant partner. Funny thing is last year I was getting perfect reception with my razr but I'm now using a blackberry 8100. Can a phone make a difference? I talked to tmobile and was told the coverage area is the same for prepaid customers and for postpaid. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, the phone can make all the difference. RF performance can vary greatly from phone to phone.

I don't think Wisc. is T-Mo territory. I spent last week on the east shore of Lake Winnebego. At the cottage where we stayed my phone showed the provider as "Einstein PCS". Only in Fond du Lac did T-Mo show. Otherwise AT&T seemed to be the most prevalent.
You may want to force your phone to another provider.
Doing a search I find out "Einstein" is a wireless provider out of Wausau.

I never failed to have a signal however.

I am surprised that AT&T or T-Mo don't serve Wausau. There is a big reinsurer there called (of all things) Wausau. I know that they used to employ thousands, and insurance agents use cell phones a lot on the road. That would mean big profits for the cell phone company that serves the area (especially for Einstein with all of those GSM phones roaming on their towers).
