So I am enjoying my new HTC Desire but I would like to have the option of disabling the Sense UI so I can see the differences (this is my first Android device). I have read that on the European Desire it was as simple as going into the settings and stopping the HTC Sense application but when I try this it does nothing and no option pops up to reload with the "launcher." I do know that I can load ADW launcher or other similar apps from the market but I am hoping that I can experience the default 2.1 (eventually 2.2) Android UI similar to the Nexus 1. Has anybody been able to accomplish this without the help from ADW launcher? If I am completely off track here, my apologies and I appreciate any help you can offer!

Honestly, whoever told you that needs to be bonked on the head with a hammer. Unless you flash a custom ROM, the Desire does not contain the stock Android launcher. If you want just vanilla Android, try Oxygen or CyanogenMOD, which remove Sense completely. Otherwise, you can flash a ROM, such as LeeDrOiD, which has Launcher2.2 and Sense. Switching between the two is as easy as downloading ClearDefaultHome from the Market, and clearing the default home. The you press home, and tick the default box, then tap Launcher 2.2.
If you disable Sense UI on an Incredible......
Don't like Sense UI
HTC sense soon? :-)
