Unsure why people are wanting to do this so bad when you can just buy a Motorola Triumph for Virgin that is basically a Droid X with the added bonus of a front facing camera.
Anyway, having done this sort of thing with an Epic 4G onto boost mobile for awhile... nobody on here is going to tell you how to clone an ESN as it is against TOS although I will argue all day that moving the ESN of one phone I own to another phone I own and paying for the service I use is not illegal in any possible way and would get laughed out of court in 2 seconds by most any judge.
Honestly, with a lot of google/youtube searching I taught myself how to flash a bad ESN Epic 4G to boost and I'm sure with enough diligence people wanting to flash a DX to Virgin MIGHT be able to. Just depends on how easy it is to change the ESN on the DX. With the Epic it is stupid easy, with the Evo it is a complete pain in the nuts but can be done. Again, not sure why anyone would want to flash a DX to Virgin when they offer what amounts to a DX clone already. And by the time you find a decent DX (that might last a year or so or shorter, ask about my experiences with used ebay phones) for $150ish and then a donor phone for $50 to clone the ESN from you might as well pay the $75 more for the Triumph and have a brand new phone that is ready to go with native voicemail working.
I have a Droid X2 on Verizon. I picked up a cheap used Virgin phone to snag its ESN/MEID/what have you.
Can I go ahead and activate the cheap phone on Virgin then flash my Droid later? Or do I need to flash the Droid first? Any chance someone could send me more detailed instructions on how to do so? I am dying to get off of Verizon without going out and buying a new phone.
