LG Ally (VS740) connect to Vista using USB - - - Please help

I am racking my head against the wall here. Can someone please help me? I have spent days trying to get this to work without success.

My LG Dare recently broke, so I went out and got an Ally. Very slick phone and I like it so far (a lot).

I have run into a big issue though. I cannot get my laptop (running Vista) to see if when attached via USB. I have tried so many different suggestions so far that I have lost track of them.

Can someone please give me clear details on how I need to configure my computer so that when I attach the phone it is recognized? It keeps failing on USB Modem.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to offer any suggestions.

    Steve

    I keep getting the message:

Windows needs to install driver software for your LG Mobile USB Modem.

I tried the instructions from here but they didnt seem to resolve the issue:

You need to go into menu--> Settings--> application and enable the debugging mode then try to connect. also make sure you have the right drivers installed

Thanks everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I was still unable to see my phone via USB. So I gave up. I am just doing everything via the SD card at this point. I've spent too much time at this point trying to get this to work.

But I would again, like to say thank you to you all for trying to help me out. I appreciate it a lot.

    Have a good one.

    Captain,

Have you tried this ? Click on 'tools' then at the bottom there is 'USB mass storage' button..click on this after connecting usb cable to the phone and computer. Your computer will view the phone as removable drive.
