Verizon Wireless and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) today announced the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab™ will be available Nov. 11 for $599.99. Running on Android™ 2.2, the Samsung Galaxy Tab features a brilliant 7-inch touch screen; robust HTML Web browsing experience with full support for Adobe® Flash® 10.1 for video and mobile gaming; and a 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application processor.

“This is an incredible time in mobile technology, and as a company we’re excited to add the Samsung Galaxy Tab to our portfolio,” said Marni Walden, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings together the reliability of Verizon Wireless’ 3G network and the power of Android 2.2 to deliver on our promise of providing consumers and business customers with a host of options to help manage their lives.”

Popular mobile applications, including V CAST Music and V CAST Song ID, VZ Navigator®, Slacker Radio, Kindle for Android, BLOCKBUSTER On Demand® presented by V CAST Video, and the exclusive golf game, “Let’s Golf,” will be available on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. In addition to text, picture and video messaging, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will also feature V CAST Apps, Verizon Wireless’ mobile storefront offering hundreds of applications for businesses and consumers at launch.

Verizon Wireless customers can add a monthly access plan beginning at $20 a month for 1 GB on their Samsung Galaxy Tab. For additional features and specifications on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, visit www.verizonwireless.com/galaxytab.

I used one a few weeks ago (Samsung rep laughed when I started Hofoing on it).. I want one, and could def. see this replacing about 90% of what I do with my laptop.. but the price is way outta my range.

Cool Who Got A Galaxy Pad?

Just got mine and posting from it now. I wasn't planning to get one but I had to go to the doctor immediately after and wanted entertainment for the wait, so it was an impulse buy. First impressions are stellar.

I bought one yesterday but I haven't decided whether it's worth the price tag or not. I also have a 64GB iPad and the Galaxy Pad just isn't as snappy, but it does have it's own advantages and it's quite nice in its own right. I will say though, I absolutely would not have bought if I would have had to start a new line. Why? Because they offer absolutely no contract pricing discount what so ever. Luckily, I had a line I wasn't using and just swapped it to that line without a contract extension. However, when I went to the store, I went to buy a Pre 2 as it was rumored to come out yesterday, but they had no information about it and didn't get it in, but did get the Galaxy Tab (which was a complete surprise to me). So, being a hopeless gadget-whore, I couldn't leave without a new toy... so I took home the Galaxy Tab and I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping it.

And it's worth mentioning that the pictures a few posts back aren't entirely accurate. The siding is black, not silver, which I think looks great and super sleek.

I tried one out at Best Buy the other day and I was more than pleased with the device overall. If this thing had been in the $400 it would have been difficult to walk out the door without one. However, the $600 price tag is just too steep IMO. If I'm going to throw down that much cha-ching I'm going to get me an iPad instead! I'm hoping that the flood of Android Tablets hitting the market soon will force prices down across the board. Right now I plan to hold out to see what the tablet market does even though it isn't easy waiting!

I already have a Verizon account and would like to use the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 as my cell phone. So far I've heard that Google Talk in conjunction with GrooveIP would do the job. But I was wondering if I could switch out the SIM from my cell into the Galaxy and get cell service.
