3G Mobile Hotspot does not appear to be free. When I try to access the web I get a Verizon page which gives a couple of phone numbers and monthly pricing! Did I miss something?

It should be $20 extra a month, for 2GB. I am trying to wait for the official version to be pushed to my phone, but if I don't get it soon, I guess I will go with the leaked version.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; ADR6300 Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

I got tired of waiting for the OTA, so I went ahead and updated with the directions from the link above. Everything went very smooth. So far, I am really liking this update.

For me, DInc on Froyo (build 3.21.605.1) has much better 3G data connectivity

My Droid Incredible has been out to pasture because of the ridiculously poor 3G connectivity I'd been getting. Even in areas where I was able to get good 3G on other devices, the Incredible would downshift and stay on 1X, delivering miserable data speeds with frequent lapses. So far, for me, the most notable benefit I got from updating to 2.2 (build 3.21.605.1) is the improved data connectivity - the previous tendency the DInc had to put a death grip on 1X has fully reversed to an equal tenacity to grab and hold on to 3G.

Battery (charge) life has not appreciatively changed on mine. With heavy use a full charge on the standard battery lasts 3-4 hours. But, thanks to the vastly improved data reception and browser performance, page load and rendering times have been significantly shortened, so I can do a lot more searching, browsing and downloading in those four hours. Who knows, with a little discipline I may be finally able to get close to a full 8 hours of moderate use.

Although I do like having Flash on my phone, I'm not that impressed with the overall 10.1 Flash experience - much of the higher rez, frame rate and bandwidth Flash video requires such long load times and is so choppy it feels more like a poorly delivered Powerpoint presentation than a video. It does OK for the less intensive stuff, though. Bottom line is that there is so much Flash content on the web I definitely want the ability to see it when I choose to do so. To avoid having all Flash content (and ads) automatically displayed, I've set "Enable plugins" to "on demand".

Froyo build 3.21.605.1 on my DInc = really good update!

Just used the manual update outlined at Android Central. The update itself took less than half an hour and went flawlessly. Although it's not a major difference I am noticing the speed boost on the web pages but most of all on the Yahoo Mail app. The LED flashlight is awesome. The one thing I did notice is that I didn't receive any notification that I would be charged or that I needed to subscribe when I fiddled around with the 3G Hotspot app. Anyone know if you'll just be billed accordingly if you use it? Anyway, I'm anxious to play around with more Froyo features.

After you setup and activate the 3G Mobile Hotspot and try to get to the web from either your phone or a connected device you will be treated to a Verizon webpage offering you a monthly pricing schedule and toll-free numbers.

There is probably a hack that does not require rooting, or anything but a few quick changes, that provides free hotspot and tethering capabilities.

I'll bet that if you Google "Free tethering for HTC Incredible on Verizon" you'll find something not too far down the results! And, I'll bet it works perfectly!

Not that I am espousing hacking of your phone. That would be dishonest.

Is it true that you don't need Advanced Task Killer with the 2.2. update? I read on androidcentral.com that the update kills unused apps and there is no benefit to ATK.

Oh, everytime I connect my phone to the computer it opens up a link to Verizon wireless and tells me to download the damn media manager. It does it everytime and is very annoying. Any way how to stop this?

Have you tried going to settings->connect to PC->default connection type and setting it to 'charge only'

I was woken up at O'Dark 30 by my phone telling me that there was a system update. So far I've not had any issues with the update, but I've not really noticed any giant gains in performance either.

There seemed to be a lot more stuff added in the autostart when rebooting and it took me a couple of tries to get skype out of there.

Other than that we'll see and I'm glad to have gotten the update.

Has anyone had any luck with the flashplayer? I am trying to play episodes from ABC.com and it just says loading and freezes.

My movies will still only play in landscape with power port down and volume rocker down. The 270 degree does not seem to work with anything but the web.
Acts should be illegal because they are bad, not bad because they are illegal.
