No. Verizon will simply not activate a device they did not originally sell. Even if they do offer the exact same model phone, if that particular one you're holding did not originally come from Verizon they will not allow it on their network.
If it doesn't have Verizon written on it, forget using it.
Thanks Rambo! I got the same response when I first called Verizon. But when I called back hours later to a customer rep,she told me that Verizon bought out Alltel and my Alltel motorazr ve20 would positively work on the Verizon network. Hmmm......still using it as a paperweight though!
That handset will certainly work on Verizon's network. However, Verizon will activate an Alltel branded handset only if you are a former Alltel customer that was acquired by Verizon when they bought Alltel and you still have a grandfathered Alltel plan (not a Verizon plan).
I have several phones just like that. Mostly Moto's and a few LG's. The problem is that I can only get only talk and text. I have been trying to get mms and mobile web working on these Alltels for weeks.
They have a $9.99 unlimited data plan if I use an Alltel phone, or limited to 25mb if using a Verizon phone. I think they're in the process of changing their data plans right now though. My plan isn't even available anymore I don't think. No one at Verizon seems to be smart enough or willing to help get the services working.
They're happy to talk about new phones and plans though...
