Well go to t-mobile.com/pcc and see what it pulls up
i have a friend who works for T here and he was saying something about them really starting to push the mobile broadband all of a sudden, so i think you may have just gotten a rep that was under pressure to hit a goal or something
when i pull your zip up in that tool, all is see is EDGE/2G coverage, that webstick would not work that well for you anyway based off what the map is showing
Left: Apple iPhone 5 on T-Mobile Unlimited LTE, On the right CenturyLink DSL at Home:
I'd only recommend Webconnect for home internet if and only if your only other internet option is Dial-up. T-mobile gags 4G speeds after the first 5GB of transfer. Any DSL service will have caps well exceeding 5GB.
You may be in a 2G GSM/GPRS coverage zone (t-mobile hides that information). GPRS is about the speed of dialup. GSM/EDGE is usually 3 times faster.
Around rural East Texas, I recommend CellOneET air cards to people without hopes of DSL from the phone company. http://celloneet.com/features/ . For 40/month, they really deliver ~200kbps down / 50kbps up ~300ms latency with their GSM/EDGE network most everywhere on their network, as fast as EDGE gets. That includes a real IP address to. I only see slower EDGE speeds in large towns.
Well I tried last night to get out of this plan and just told me flat out to bad..if I did chose to end the plan they would charge me an early disconnection fee of 200.00. I had to wait for another tower..there tech support said more towers were coming soon and they didn't give a date..well It could take them a year or two or maybe even never and Im stuck unless I want to pay 200.00..disconnect fee..sucks..T-MOBILE Sucks...I did find a plan with Sprint that promises me 3G or 4G, 3G being limited to 5g and 4g unlimited access..but I live in the 3g area..for 59.99mth..and they assured me that I would get 4bars of service..Right now with T=Mobile when I open the usage window its registering GPRS/EDGE...What ever that means..It's slow as Christmas...The agent just wanted to make a sale and he found his mark...I wont be so gullible next time..At this pt I am ready to give this thing back no matter what the consequences are. Thanks all for all ur help...Suffering in South Carolina...
Be careful when checking out other unlimited plans
When checking other plans, be sure to ask whether your speed gets throttled down when you hit the 5GB limit. Virgin Mobile says Unlimited but starting 2/15/11 they will slow your speed when 5GB is reached. T-Mobile slows you to 55K when the 5 GB max is reached. All throttle back up to normal speeds when the new billing cycle starts. Also be sure any plan you try has a 30 day money back guarantee so you can check the speed where you live and not use the maps, which from my experience mean little.
