How to tell if your iPhone 4 is factory-unlocked

I was wondering how you can tell if your iPhone 4 is unlocked or not. I don't have another micro sim to try it out on so it would be hard for me to do it that way. Any other ways?

well obviously i know that but what if my phone is factory unlocked. This is from Canada and it is from the Apple store...

Find someone with an AT&T SIM and someone with a TMo SIM and check it... else, buy prepaid SIM for both and check if you get reception...

I have a Fido sim card. I tried cutting it but It's the older ones and the contacts is bigger so i couldn't really cut them well.

Well I'm sure you have several friends with iPhones on different carriers. Just ask to borrow their SIM for a second and pop it in and see what happens. It only takes two to convince yourself.

Another option is to restore the firmware in iTunes. If the phone is unlocked it'll tell you so when you activate it.

Maybe you can go to the Apple Store and ask them to test it with another carrier's SIM (Telus, Bell, Fido, etc.) which is different from the microSIM which you're currently using in your iPhone 4. I don't know if they will help but I don't see why they wouldn't help.

The best way to verify if it is locked or unlocked. If you see the word "Master Lock" on the phone and there is a large stainless steel U-shaped metal rod, it is locked.
