aren't you the one that told me i couldn't reproduce the speeds i'm getting? It's rather funny that people who have wimax are getting advertised speeds and people who don't and are known to bash on it are posting here with other peoples equipment showing very slow speeds.
anyway, maybe you could run several tests in a row with that device to make sure it isn't a fluke or perhaps it got hung during the test as sometimes can happen. what kind of modem is it? because if it is consistent then it seems to me that your friend may have a bad piece of equipment. or its just coincidence that you know someone who can't get good speeds. because as you can see, i'm steadily getting way better speeds than that. like all the time, all over town. i think you should direct your friend to the site so they can see what they should be getting with their device. it may be a matter of firmware or settings within the unit. or even the server may be the problem haven them try a different one. have them hook up to wichita or something and run 4 or 5 tests and get the avg. thats the way to tell what's really going on. thats why i'm not just putting up one result, so everyone can see that yes, in fact it is that fast most of the time for me and that my avg speeds are holding up despite the number of devices going up with the evo launch.
for example.
on several different servers.
There is nothing wrong with the modem, file downloads peak at about 55KB/s regardless of what I get via speedtest.net
Like I was saying...
It's a faulty modem or in a very poor coverage area, we've been over this before. There's a name for this type of behavior.

Has anyone tested here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area lately? While we've had 4G for awhile, speeds have generally been dismal compared to what users are getting in Portland and Atlanta. Have the speeds improved for DFW users? I ask because it seems like my neighborhood in the northern DFW suburbs now has Clear service available, though coverage is still spotty throughout our county.

If its not a defective modem or a coverage issue why doesn't you or this person switch to T-mobile or a faster carrier. Seems to me it would be a big waste to live with and pay for miserable speeds when you live in an area where there are so many choices. Even if a contract is involved it is pretty simple to just call, cancel, pay the etf, and sell the old equipment to recoup some of it.
daaaang.

This was the best I was able to get in a spot I found in Los Angeles, CA today....
Hopefully be much faster after final release...

I don't think its that great... I'm hoping for more.
My friend got an iPhone 4 yesterday, and I was sure my 4G would be faster.... wrong.
