    Advice Needed

    Look for some advice.

My contract will be up for renewal in ~ 3-4 months. I called retentions (name of CSR was Jack) to ask if he could renew my plan and credits and he said NO.

Does anyone have any experience renewing their contract and all of their credits via a single call to retentions.? I don't really want to renew the voice contract only to try to get back the monthly and feature credits because I can't cancel and move to another provider without penalty.

    Thanks.

Call another rep and ask about what they can offer you.

Call as many times as required

    Just an update.

I asked about getting me credits extended if I were to enter into a new voice contract. One CXR was really nice and said yes and then hung up on me before we could complete the transaction. I call back and got another guy and he was rather condescending. Based on what the last guy said, I have decided to cancel my data plan and will let my voice contract expire and move to another provider even if I have to pay more. All the last CXR had to say was no I can't renew all of your credits but I can renew some and maybe we could have found some middle ground.

One rotten egg soils the dozen.

    Hi all

    Curretly I have:
    250min + 50min
    u/l incoming
    free wknd/eve @ 6
    free CID, VM, 100min LD
    100 msg
    6Gb Data
    All for 40+SAF+911+Tax = 53.xx

I'm not complaining but is it possible to cut the SAF for this plan? FYI, I just got an iPhone 4 from Apple store.

I think I need a new plan. aka I might be getting screwed.

    Current plan:

    250 min
    500 megs data
    10000 text
1000 video/picture messages (which I never used anyway)

    Smartphone Plan with Data 45.00
Savings: Monthly Plan Credit 3 Yr -10.00
Savings: Monthly Fee Credit 3 yr -7.00
6PM Early Eve. Calling Option 7.00
    50 Bonus minutes 0.00
    Smartphone Value Pack 15.00
    Municipal Tax for 9-1-1 0.40
    9-1-1 Emergency Access Fee 0.75
    System Access Fee 6.95

    Total after tax: $65.81

I have been with Rogers for about five years, I started this current 3 contract with an upgrade to an Nokia E71, great phone but she is getting on her last legs. I just past the the two year mark my contract and if anyone had any suggestions on what I should do. I would like to get a new phone since my e71 wont last much longer, and I would like to get a better plan out of the deal too.

So any suggestions on plans, or phones. I really like the way Android is shaping up.

    Thanks.

Timing a HUP and commitment to new contract vs. Availability of Devices

I'm new to the "retentions negotiation" experience, and would appreciate some advice.

I've been a Rogers Wireless customer for 9 years, and my current contract is expiring end of November. I currently have a 3 year old dumbphone and a voice-only plan and was hoping to upgrade to an Android 2.2 compatible phone (Samsung Galaxy S phone - Captivate/Vibrant) and take advantage of Rogers' 6gb/$30 offer.

Unfortunately, now that the Captivate was pushed to release in mid-October it looks like I won't be able to do a HUP before the data offer expires.

So what do you recommend I do next?

    a) Negotiate for a better voice plan now and then do a data upgrade & HUP in late October? (All the while knowing that Rogers is only letting new customers pre-order the phone; and hoping there'll be stock left over for existing customers -- bastards)
    b) Do my HUP now, and get a phone I dislike but on a good data plan.
    c) Cancel my Rogers account and pay the ECF and go to Bell and get the Samsung Galaxy S (Good phone, unknown experience with carrier)
    d) Buy an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S phone and renegotiate for good data plan with Rogers before Sept 30th

The whole experience has been overwhelming... but thanks to everyone's advice it will hopefully be over soon enough.

^Negotiate a better voice plan and add the 6GB data now. You'll still be eligible for a HUP, so you can HUP to a Captivate when it gets released in October.

I have been with Rogers for about 6 years now I think. My current contract expires in February I believe, so I will likely be calling within the next month or so to try to negotiate a good deal and extend my contract.

I've never called retentions before, for as long as I've been with Rogers. So what I would like to know is how I would even go about starting the convo. In my mind, it would likely go along the lines of... "My contract is expiring soon, and I'd like to see what you guys can offer me before I go shopping around. If I like what I am offered, I am prepared to extend my contract." Then I would go into what I'm looking for in my plan, and how much I'm looking to pay, etc etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I've read the first page of the RFD Retentions thread already.

Question What am I doing wrong??

Cantel Rogers customer for 15 years. Just got the wife and I new iphone 4's this morning. Thought I was "negotiating" and my head was spinning after all the terminology that went by. Tonight I was finally able to login to rogers.com and found out that I have this:

    Which equates to:

    200 Wkday/Unltd. Eve/Wkends@6PM - $17.50
iPhone Value Pack with Visual Voicemail - $20
    6GB Data with $5 discount - $25
    Rogers to Rogers - Free
    100 Anytime CDN LD Mins - $5
    GRRF - $2.58
    Total: $73.58 w GST

Browsing through here that it seems I'm paying more for less compared to what others have. What would you recommend I push for to get down into the $50's like many here seem to do? Thanks!!
    Cheers,
    Ronin

    Retention Nightmare

I've just had a nightmare with retentions.

The thing is, I currently have a retention plan. It was given to me 3 years ago. Now it's going to end (November 5th) and needless to say, some of the bonuses will expire.

    Here's my current plan:
    250 Wkday/Unltd. Eve/Wkends $20
6PM Early Eve. Calling Option $5
    50 Bonus minute $0
    Rogers to Rogers $5
    Value Pack (2500 txt/CID/VM) $10
    100LD $0
Monthly Plan Credit - to be removed on 05-Nov-2010 -$10
Rogers to Rogers 3Yr Bonus - to be removed on 05-Nov-2010 -$5
    SAF $6.95
    911 $0.75

    Total before tax = $32.70
I called in 2 weeks ago 3 times and here's what they offered me:

    200 Wkday/Unltd. Eve/Wkends/ unlitd. 6pm $17.50
    50 bonus minus
Value Pack (same as above) $10
    Data 6gb $30
Data discount -$10 (Haha I somehow got it)
100 LD $0 (I think I get to keep this as there's no expiry date)
    GRFF $ 2.58
    Total = $50.08
They wouldn't budge on the "-$10 monthly credit" and the "R2R credit -$5" being extended. However, this does mean I am qualified to get an iPhone 4 (which I am not too eager about since I want an HTC phone).

On my 4th call the week later, I told them I don't want data, I just want to extend my bonuses and keep what I have and the rep told me that he can't and told me some BS that there's no point in calling in too often and that they need to make money. (Obviously those reps wrote notes on my account, but I didn't give them an attitude, just talked regularity).

I really want to keep the R2R credit since I usually talk to my friend who uses Rogers. Should I take this deal or should I call in and ask once more? Is it possible to get better?

^Unlimited Network Calling -> Rogers-Rogers, Rogers-Fido, and Rogers-Rogers Home Phone. I'm on the 17.50 plan and had to ask for it because I was also under the impression that it should come with it...they added it without a problem as a $0 bonus.
