Anyone else call out Rogers on their 30 month HUP BS? I did and I'm awaiting a manager callback. Although only the province of Quebec is permitted to cancel without ECF, I'm disputing this along with a lot of other BS I've encountered with Rogers. I'm hoping to port out without an ECF as my ultimate goal and get a free phone through Bell. I may possibly come back to Rogers in the future if they clean up their BS.

You're not going to be able to port out without an ECF, sorry to say. (Well, I shouldn't say that's definite, but the manager would have to be pretty dim to allow it.) See, all they have to do is offer you an upgrade, and then they've met the clause of allowing you to carry on with the terms 'unchanged' because they're letting you upgrade at the timeframe that was originally there - except you're renewing your contract at the same time, and therefore agreeing to the new 30 month policy.

Besides that, there's nothing actually written in the terms about when and how you can upgrade. Plan changes, local calling area changes, all of that - those are different, that's what you agreed to when you initiated service or renewed. Upgrade time really is at the discretion of the provider.

Thanks, iridescence. I figured as much. I'll at least be able to use it as leverage. I've been struggling to upgrade for a long time, they've screwed up my account, given me false information causing me to miss out on the 6gig plan, etc, etc. It's also a slap in the face that the Samsung Captivate pre-orders were only permitted for new customers versus loyal customers like myself who've relinquished thousands of dollars for nearly a decade.

I actually do Chat Support as a TSR/CSR and I've worked on Loyalty/Retention departments as well. I can't say I'm not guilty for taking advantage of these plans, but I do honestly believe that Rogers has dicked me around unnecessarily. I just missed a call from a "manager" because I'm at work right now but I'll give them a call back and hopefully they can do something to keep my business.

Thankfully if I do port out, the cost of a new smart phone given to me for free (many great offers plus I have friends at Bell and Telus) would offset the ECF. The one thing I do like about Rogers is that I've never had a single dropped call or signal challenge as far as voice is concerned. And I can only recall 1 time ever where my data access was buggered up on the network.

How do u even get a offer like that i was offered:

    Unlimited NA talk - $50
    6GB Data - $30
    Caller ID/Voicemail $12
    + Goverment Regulatory Fee $2....
it was like $94 before tax and then like $106 after tax

They say that plan isn't available to get credits... is this true? if so how come some people are getting this plan with credits? sorry if this is the wrong section but i'm confused on how is this a deal when you can get all that with Mobillicity or Wind for Like $65 + tax ($35 on mobilicity friends and family) so just wondering if the rep lied to me or this is actually true that u can't get credits on this and i believe it was a regular customer service as i was never transferred and when the lady answered she said she was a relations manager so dunno if thats true also LOL is it possible to get a customer relations rep when you dial 611 and just hit 0 to get a rep?

If they're taking overflow calls for customer service, then yes. :P

The plans that you have are not, by policy, supposed to have any credits... But some reps go against policy to offer them, leading to what you see on the forums, here. Doesn't mean the rep is wrong in what they're telling you.

As for what you can get from Wind - you're looking at closer to $90 unless you think their promos are going to last forever ($45 for Always Shout, $45 for Infinite Laptop, which are comparable to unlimited voice + 6gb data) - and Rogers' plans aren't limited to zones. Add the fact that Rogers can justifiably say that you are paying for reputation and reliability, and you get the remaining price difference.

Not sure how Mobilicity compares, though again, they are small.

Thanks iridescence makes complete sense now i just wasn't sure how i see people on here getting credits on that plan and they wouldn't budge on giving me any credits maybe i should try again i really don't wanna move to mobilicity i know there limited to there zones as i checked there coverage i never leave that zone so for me it will work but i rather stay with rogers but i don't see how i can agree for another 3 years for a $106 a month plan.

I am 20 months into a 36 month contract. With the recent shift to 30 month HUP then BACK to 24 months, I am looking at going that route, maybe see about getting an iPhone 4.

I usually grind my cell phones into dust so this is actually my first possible HUP experience. I would like to try to upgrade early. Is that even a possibility anymore?

Occasionally the RET department gets iPhones in stock, but it's not for very long, and there's no guarantee that they will get them again. It's certainly worth calling in to see what your luck would be, though.

^I'm pretty sure 99.999% users with the 6GB data are ok. In fact, the stats show that 98% of users use less than 500mb / month.

Right now, I have a Blackberry 8900 in the Greater Vancouver District. I did a HUP last September (2009). I would like to know if there are any way for me to switch from 2500 SMS to Unlimited for the same price. If anyone could help, that would be great!

Does anyone know if there are retention-style addons for overseas data? Considering that other companies offer these services for as little as two cents a minute, I'm not going to pay Rogers ten cents or more for the exact same thing! That said, there's clearly some convenience about being able to directly dial overseas contacts, hence my question.

The value pack gives you visual voicemail, call display, unlimited texting and picture messaging. If you don't care about the visual voicemail or unlimited messaging, then you could go to the retention value pack with voicemail, call display and 2500 outgoing sms/unlimited incoming and save yourself $10 right there - you might be able to get it credited as well, and then you've saved $20.

You haven't really said what you're looking for beyond that, though - do you want unlimited incoming? Early evenings? Just cheaper? Know what you want when you call in, because that way when you say you want a 'better' plan and they ask, you have your answers prepared.
