    Phone upgrade

    Hi!

I was hoping to get some advice. I currently have a blackberry and desperately need an upgrade (haha I'm still on edge.....) I was hoping to get the iphone, but not pay too much more on my plan.

    Here is my current plan:
    100/Unltd Early Eve/Wkds Plan 35.00
Savings: Monthly Plan Discount - 3 Year -15.00
Savings: Monthly Plan Discount - 3 Year -5.00
    Savings: Data Discount -5.00
    50MB BlackBerry (BIS) Service 15.00
    100 Bonus Minutes 0.00
    Value Pack* 10.00
    Gov't Regulatory Recovery Fee 2.35
    Call Forwarding/Call Transfer 3.00
Savings: Call Forwarding/ Call Transfer -3.00
    150 Long Distance ...free

    = 37.35 +taxes (41.83 total)

I know I will have to upgrade my data so would like to be able to keep the cost down somehow and I was also hoping to get the iphone for under $100.00 ... I am willing to wait for the new iphone to come out and get the iphone 4s then would it be cheaper? Is it hard to keep my credits? I am willing to renew.

I was also wondering when the new iphone comes out do they usually offer more deals and are more willing to negotiate?

Basically, should I try now or hold off until the new one is released?

You should have to upgrade anything with that plan to get a iPhone on subsidy. Since your total pre-credits should be above the required plan value.

It will be very VERY hard to keep $20 in generic credits right now tho I think. Although your base plan is crazy... $35 for 100 DT minutes? You could get 200 for $17.50.

As for a subsidized iPhone, you could get an iPhone 4 8GB for $0 on 3 year term. Apple products don't tend to drop much in price when new versions come out - they like to maintain their "premium" image. You can always wait for a new phone, but the phone it'll always be outdated just as fast - so there tends not to be much point in waiting unless you're expecting or need a certain feature not currently available IMO.
    Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII i747M - CyanogenMod10 IceCreamSandwich 4.1.2.

    Rogers Retentions Plans:

After Tax: $53.22; Total discounts: $58.40/mnth.
    (1x): 200WD+6pm Unl eve/wkd (17.50 plan) (-$15MFD); 1000LD ($5); CID; VM; 2500TXT; $108 yearly credit.
After Tax: $12.99; Total discounts: $39/mnth.

Plans and regular features (as far as I've seen) never have an expiry date. Just the credits and bonus features on them do. e.g. if you have the old 100 LD minutes for free, it should be good indefinitely, but you can't get it anymore.

Right now I'm on a family/share plan, it's $100 plus $24 in addons. Rediculous. One line has 5 months left I think (why isn't the end date on the bill?), and the other has 2 years left. How would I go about getting a retentions deal? I really need a hup too because thanks to some theif I have a crappy Nokia c1.

I’ve the same question as ladadade and I’m worried after reading phzi’s reply about keeping the discounts.

What are the odds of me keeping what I have below, or something similar. I’d be looking at an Android HUP as well.

    Plan
    $20 - 250 WD minutes, Unlimited Eve/Weekend (6PM+)
    $ 0 - Name Display
    $8 - Call Display
    $7 - Basic VM
    $5 - Messaging Bundle 250
    $0 - 100 min Cdn LD
    $30 - 6GB Data
    + SAF

    Discounts
    -$5 Data
    -$8 Call Display
    -$15 Monthly Plan Discount

If the discounts are not feasible, can anyone make a suggestion as to what is?

    I am considering renewing my agreement to 36 months. I don't really care about more minutes or data, I just want my current plan cheaper and maybe MMS included (doesn't include it and is a pain seeing $8 in mms charges on my bill). This is what I have;

3000 Daytime Minutes (+100 Bonus Minutes)
    Unlimited E/W 6PM
    Unlimited Incoming
    Unlimited Canadian LD
    Unlimited Text Messaging
    6GB Data Service
    Enhanced Voicemail
    Call Display

    Total: $85/month + GRRF/GST

I was hoping to get a $15 monthly credit if I renew making my actual plan $70. This is not a voice, data, and value pack it is all in one.

First thing I see... Do you need all those 3100 minutes? You already have so many things unlimited that is voice related.... Why not switch to WIND? Definitely not getting a $15/month credit.
    Fido
$17.50 EPP (200 anytime minutes, Unlimited Evening and Weekends: 5pm to 8am) - $10 Credit
$10 Value Pack (Call ID, 2500 Text, and Voicemail)
    $5 100 Long Distance Minutes
    $30 6GB data
    No SAF and 911

    $52.50 + tax

    Rogers
$17.50 (250 anytime minutes, Unlimited evenings and weekends: 6pm to 7am)
$10 Value Pack (Call ID, 2500 Text, and Voicemail)
    $0 100 Long Distance Minutes
    $10 Retention Flex Data
    $5 6pm evening credit
    GRRF

    Total: $39 + tax

I wondered about this. At some point in my "negotations", I was actually told I needed to take a subsidized handset if I wanted a certain credit. Luckily for me I managed to get said credit without a sub in a subsequent call. So since I'm on the newer plan, dispute my 3 year contract, not taking a phone sub means my cancellation fee is just $12?

Ok, so since I'm on the new plan and didn't take a phone sub, they've been calli me every day (probably to encourage me to do a HUP). Anyways, confirmed that the cancellation fee is just $12.50, and because I complaint about the reception at my house, they threw in extra bonus minutes. I don't see how that actually helps of my reception is bad, but similar complaints in the past (when cold called by Rogers) has gotten me free incoming. And no, I still have not taken a HUP.

First time poster, long time lurker. I have been happy with my current plan, was paying 25$ more prior to the one I have now, but my current phone (Nexus S 3G) has gotten completely water damaged after biking in Saturday's thunderstorm. I have only now found out about retentions and am wondering if they take care of HUP as well.

    My current plan is:

    Unlimited Eve & Wknd Minutes
    6pm Early Evening Calling
    200 Weekday Minutes
    6pm Early Evening Calling

    Included with My Plan

    Call Fwd/Transfer Pay Per Use
    Detailed Billing
    Messaging Bundle Unlimited
    MY10 Canada-wide Talk & Text
    1GB Shared Data Option
    = 60$

    + Value Pack Addon 12$ (Call Display/Name Display/Enhanced Voicemail/Voicemail to Text/Mobile Back-up/Ring Backs)
    + 6PM Early Evening 6$

    Total = 91.36$ Monthly

While I don't currently have money to purchase a new phone from Kijiji or HoFo. I wanted to do a HUP in-store, only to find out I have to pay an extra 90$ for early HUP and 35$ activation. I was looking to go with the Galaxy Nexus(79.99+90+35=195$) or the SIII(159+90+35=284$) The 90$ early HUP fee will expire in December. Is there a way around this through retention, or should I call retention first to change my current plan and then do the HUP and pay that 90$?

    Thanks all

My contract ended back in February, and when I called in days ago, they said they don't do contract anymore, the only thing with contract is the hardware upgrade.

Is that true? No more retention deals on plans, but only for hardware upgrade?

    Someone please enlighten me. >_<

They still have contracts w/ cancelling fees of $12.50 & whatever is owing on your last HUP.

Credits are still applied to customer's account with or without a HUP from retention, not as generous as the past.

    why do you say that?

The guy doesn't have a $25 plan..he has a $85 plan., so when I read of (daily) people on the standard $60 plan getting $15 in credits (and others dropping their bill to $45) someone who's on a $85 total bill, should be very well positioned to get AS fortunate and secure said credit-at least.

I always wonder when I people on those plans though. I'd love to do an airtime filter to see if a substantial amount of outgoing (since incoming is free) is rogers. I'm surprised there's no R2R in that list of 'unlimited' features.

I am curious to know how much airtime outgoing daytime the person is racking up fwiw.
