My opinion is that you should call in and say you're strongly considering the Wind unlimited plan. Then ask them the details about cancelling (fees, procedure, etc.). That should get you to retentions. Once there, mention the Wind plan in comparison to your's. Mention that you really like your current plan but the price point is a little high for what you're getting. Play it by ear from then on. Don't sound too eager with anything they offer (they'll tighten up on the offers) but don't sound like you're definitely going to cancel (they'll see no point in negotiating).

These are general but I think it comes down to your attitude and how well you connect with a particular rep.

Agree with Brinn. I called retentions and simply asked what my cancellation fee was. I made no mention of actually canceling. If the csr asks why you're canceling, then you play the Wind card.

Play it cool and hopefully you'll get a good deal. It also helps to know exactly what you want before calling to prevent getting shortchanged. Good Luck!

I call retentions ... and they say yes sir we say you were offered 44.xx something but we cannot offer you that price.... the rep quote you the wrong amount. what do I do now?
Post the plan details as written on the invoice.

    44xx for base plan
taxes, fees etc.. likely has it up near 52.

    a) $44.99 (the max possible value of $44.xx) + 13% tax = $50.83, which is not what the poster was charged ("$52.xx")
    b) The poster was told, outright, that Rog would not honour the original offer (poster said: "I call retentions ... and they say yes sir we say you were offered 44.xx something but we cannot offer you that price")

The issue is not an unrecognized tax addition, it's that Rog has, once again, revoked an offer they made. Scummy, scummy, scummy.

And yes, I've been subject to reps that can't do math, even when I tell them they're wrong, and they recalculate, and they're still wrong. (This I rather know because my plan is in a spreadsheet). Funny thing is that one that I recall specifically had the rep underquoting my fee (when the problem I called about had been regarding overbilling me.) I said if they're right, great. But it better not be more than the number I know is correct.

Next month I was again overbilled - $10 more than the rep said I would be charged and $5 more than I knew to be the correct sum.

    Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

This is actually a good deal, coming from Rogers. I just called tonight and what they offered me was:

    Unlimited US/Canada calling and texting
    6 gb data
    Free VM, CID

    $72.43 plus tax

Still very pricey. I will try to call again and try my luck.

Did you already have the 6gb plan? I have the exact same plan but with 500mb, 6gb would keep me from bolting to WIND permanently. Of course, I believe that if you got that around $60, it would be perfect!

Yes, I have the 6gb on my current plan.

I was hoping they'll at least match my current monthly charge of $54. Oh well, the least I could do is try again.

Exactly, the guy you quoted above got it around $50, and with the $40 unlimited plans being thrown around Rogers might come to their senses. Good luck! Please post after you try again...I'll do that same.

BellVictim, that is correct. They said to me that we see you were quoted a price of 44.xx but we cannot match that price. I think the rep shouldn't have offered you that price, and he was wrong. I will send a "coach back" to that rep. I am like I don't care what you do, but as a consumer I was misinformed. Not once, but rogers has done this before to me. Do you think I should call back and ask to speak to manager?

It looks like you are getting some sort of credit on your data.
Are you paying $20 for 6 gigs?
See if they will you more of a credit on your data.

^Pretty sure at $72, that already includes a $10 data discount.

    $50 + $30 + $2.43 - $10 = $72.43.

    My New Rogers Plan
    - $35 Unlimited Local Calling Plan
    - $30 6GB Data
    - $10 Retention Value Pack - Free (2500 texts, CID, VM)
    - 100 mins LD - Free
    - $67 + tax

Hi, quick question, Is Rogers retention plan only for existing Rogers clients? My Bell term is ending next month and I am wondering if I can call Rogers and negotiate a retention deal. I know I can get it if I stay with Bell but I would rather move to Rogers.

Yes, I am currently paying $30 (less $10) on my 6 GB data.

Yup, this is the break down.

Seems like Rogers is not budging... I will keep my current retention plan, which still works for me now. It would just really be neat to have the US calling and texting. In the next few months, I may be using my phone more during the day. I will revisit it then.
