I don't know if you did it on purpose, but the title of this thread is extremely misleading. No need to word the title like that just to get attention.
And yes we've been told by some insiders on our forum that the XT720 is coming soon, but there are no specific dates yet.
lol... odd thread.. i was gonna make my own, but i guess there's no need to saturate the board.
while i can't 100% confirm a date, i would say expect this to be out immediately following the rebate promo (after sept 15) ... i can 100% confirm that wind employees have began their training on this phone, which pretty much guarantees that it'll be out within the month. Pic below was sent to me to "verify" my info for you guys..
That screenshot looks like some sort of online training eh? Judging by the "Chapter List" on the left hand side, and of course the video playing in the top left.
It would be great if you could confirm a price for us next! Hopefully it's no more than $350 or so, otherwise I'll be on the fence between this and the Vibrant... But of course buying from Wind has its perks, like warranty. Too bad the XT720 doesn't have 512MB of RAM, that would have made the choice a lot easier... My opinion is that I will pay proportionally more money depending on how "future proof" a device is. And with half the RAM, the XT720 just doesn't feel as future proof so I hope the price is proportionally lower...

haha thanks... as soon as i get a price i will pass that info along. or perhaps someone else will hear something before me. i can see it being around 360 to 400 if i were to guess.
also want to say that if i were choosing between the vibrant and the xt720, id go with the vibrant simply because you'll get more out of it.. the xt720 looks like a great phone, but it won't be upgradable past 2.2 if it even gets a 2.2 update. just something to consider.
Well keep in mind the G1 and MT3G/Magic aren't "supposed" to be able to run 2.2 (or at least they haven't officially been updated yet), but thanks to the root community Froyo is able to run on both devices. So if those phones can take 2.2, I'm pretty sure the XT720 will be able to take it.
Though I suppose for the non-rooters, the likelihood of future Official Updates are important.
I'm thinking the XT720 will go for like $400-$420, though I hope I'm wrong. At least Wind will finally have a true high-end Android to go alongside the Bold.
My personal thought is that it will be more than the Pearl but nowhere close to the Bold. I see that Wind wants the Bold to be the flagship device. So my guess is 350. Anyone wanna take a guess?
XT720 for 350 would be a steal, people have overclocking this thing past 1ghz and getting better performance than the nexus one and other high end devices

Not true; Yes, the XT720 has been rooted and overclocked.
No, it is not faster than the Nexus One, mainly because of Froyo.
And I bought this phone when it first came out for $535, fml.

Well the key difference is that HTC devices have unlocked bootloaders, and an active development community at xda. The same thing can't be said about Moto phones, which have locked bootloaders (i.e. only official ROMs can be loaded).

but if the xt720 is overclocked past 1ghz, could a nexus one be overclocked to run at, say 1.5 ghz?
