I had the Dare. It was pretty good. I've actually taken a couple of pretty good pics outside with my Incredible. But my best camera phone was the Nokia N82 with Xenon flash. It was in line with a good point and shoot. It was 1 and the iPhone 4 that I have is 1a. Nokia makes some excellent hardware for sure. They just came out with the N8, 12MP and all I have read, the camera is all that. But I digress

But overall, all Droids leave a lot to be desired, camera wise.

It doesn't affect it at all. Calendar, contacts, everything syncs fine with Google.

Bing means jack sh*t if you ask me. You install Launcher Pro and there is a Google Search widget available (not working correctly at the moment, but the dev is working on it). I'm looking at it on my screen right this second. The only thing you cannot Un-Bing is hitting the search soft key at the bottom...that will ALWAYS go to Bing. Hopefully the LP guy fixes it quickly...that would solve everyone's huge gripe.

Everyone is REALLY exaggerating when it comes to the software on this phone. Get rid of Touchwiz with Launcher Pro and it's almost identical to the Droid X/2. And the music player is about 500 times better.

And is the lighting of the soft keys at the bottom THAT big of a deal? You will have them memorized in like two days and it won't matter. You will just naturally hit the button you need.

I got mine a few hours ago and I love it. I love the speech to text stuff. Im learning to use the swype. All the things people rave about like the screen and the gpu are worth the praise. Its responsive and no lag issues for me. I have been on this thing non stop the past 2 hours. With a never ending stream of app DL's, email, texting, playing and testing apps etc. [basically heavy usage] this thing goes thru about 20% of its battery per hour. Now thats a rough estimate on my part but by way of deduction a fully charged battery would be dead after 5 hours of constant non-stop usage. This makes me believe that with even moderately heavy use it should easily last the day. The GPS seems to work fine for me although I have not extensively texted it and I dont have that app everyone seems to use yet. This thing really flies on my wi-fi. speedtest app confirms almost 20 down and nearly 2 up which is about my connection max anyway.
I havent used the Bing at all [why would I] its just one of those things I'll just ignore.
Sync'd up both my gmail and hotmail.
I'll report back later with more info. Perhaps Im not the highest end user and/or a Android purest but Im impressed and it wont be going back

This phone is an Incredible with a better screen, better reception/call quality and better battery life. They feel the same, look similar (from the front) and perform similarly from a speed standpoint. I loved the Incredible except for those issues, so this thing is fantastic.

When you mention that, are you saying that the google search widget will actually use google search, instead of routing the queries through Bing?

It is still routing through bing even with the google widget...so hopefully it's a bug and it's being resolved. I've been told it is...but that doesn't make it true. It is the internet afterall.

Yeah I'll confirm this too. Google widget still goes thru the Bing.

However, I have found a way to resolve it. If you use Dolphin HD browser, you can search through google. So it's not ideal for those that don't like Dolphin that much (myself)...but it works.

Yeah, that's what I was hoping you meant lol. I'd love for it to be fixed.

Well, you can set your home page on the default browser to google.com, and search from there.

I hope you're kidding. They locked out google search. Hey cool, I can't even install it if I want to.

Thats awesome.. I didn't want to rely on a rooted rom since they don't always work so well. And now with this info I will put "buy Fascinate" back on my to do list for this weekend.

Can anyone else confirm this ???

Here's another little FYI. When charging use the wall not just usb. Way faster.

Also no one seems to mention it but my sd card was just class 2 not sure that makes a big deal.

I did put a few DVD's on the SD card but they were at lower res like 480x320. [These were old rips I did when my son got his ipod touch] Stretch to fit they seemed to look ok. I will probably bust out old handbrake and put some on at 720x480 and see if that makes any quality difference to my eyes. I know they'll be a lot bigger in terms of storage size so Im kinda hoping 480x320 looks good enough which I almost think it does.
