really frustrating situation with the Fascinate. I love the phone overall but I am having a ton of trouble adding my yahoo! small business email that I use. I checked with yahoo to ensure I had the right server for incoming, they said use pop.bizmail.yahoo.com port 110 and smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com for outgoing. I tried that and I get an error msg. I then did some research and changed it to imap.yahoo.com for incoming and that seemed to work, however no emails would load or download. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you're experiencing a "known issue" with the phone: Boy Genius Report on issues with Samsung Fascinate.

Wow. That's a laundry list of problems. I bet most problems have that many though, we just don't hear about 'em...

I installed LauncherPro on the Fascinate tonight.
The only thing that won't work with it are the Samsung Touch Wiz Widgets, such as the Buddies, Feeds & Updates, and AccuWeather clock.
But the customization of LP does make up for it.

With root you can rename the I500_BingSearchAndroid_07152010.apk and then install the Enhanced Google Search provider apk which will fully restore Google Search including the search capacitive button. It works in Launcher Pro and Touchwiz.

I'd post a link to the information (which isn't hard to find) but it may be considered a competing site.

Thus far I am thrilled with the Fascinate. I've experienced great reception and so far had no problems with GPS. Thus far the biggest annoyance I've had with the phone is the backlights on the capacitive buttons not being linked to the screen backlight but I'm actually already getting used to it and Samsung has acknowledged it as a bug that they plan to fix.

We know that. We are mad we have to root our phones to get it to work like it should. Plus some us us REFUSE to root.

So far I love this phone coming from an OG Droid, my only gripes are bing, and the resolution on the screen compared to the Droid. However, the colors (esp. blacks and whites) more than make up for the loss in res. The MP3 player is OUTSTANDING! it actually has an equalizer, thank jeebus. This phone is FAST extremely fast, and it's still on 2.1, 2.2 should make this thing a monster and a half. I'm using LauncherPro which i was a little weary about using since i tried themes on my droid and it slowed the phone down a lot. Since this phone is a different monster altogether there is NO lag what so ever I just play with the 3d app drawer since it opens so fast and scrolls so smoothly.

Does this come with the mobile hotspot feature capable right out of the box, or will we have to wait on 2.2 to get it.

You may have known that but I'm sure others did not. If you refuse to root your phone then perhaps the Fascinate isn't the Droid you are looking for...

3G Mobile Hotspot ($20 per month from Verizon) is installed from the factory. I have confirmed that Wireless Tether 2.05 pre9 works once rooted.

I wonder how long it will take for MobileAP to get ported over. It works extremely well (as a big plus, in infrastructure mode and not ad-hoc)

I just got this phone in the mail and was wondering if I could take it in store to get the BOGA offer... Is this possible? Even if the line I want to upgrade doesn't get an upgrade until about 5 months from now?

Does any have the extended battery? I've heard it does fit under the standard door and I've heard it needs a extended door. Facts? Pictures?

Sometimes it's a good idea to check the Verizon Wireless site for the accessories....

Have an extra battery available for your Samsung i500 Fascinate if your charger is not available. This battery is a 2200 mAh Lithium Ion. Battery times vary based upon personal use and system transition. Extended battery is packaged with an extended battery door.
