The Link is a vast improvement over the Slate (which was good in its own right), and at this price it's a steal. I've got one sitting right here in front of me, and I must -- from time to time -- resist the urge to lick it.

There are still a few minor annoyances, such as the fact that it will only display your message list in conversation view, and it won't display the entire message in a conversation bubble if it's more than a few words long; you must select such messages and open them individually to see the whole thing. This defeats the very purpose of converstion view, which is to place all of the messages to and from one person on the screen at once, like an IM, in order to prevent the need for superfluous button-pressing.

Pantech aren't innovators, but they're very good at copying most of what works for other manufacturers (they tend to miss the essentials; see above), and their hardware is often top-shelf, as is the case with the Link.

Refurb is now $29 with free shipping and if you only need the phone, choose the Simple Plan and remove the bundled $25 prepaid card. Got one on the way right now...

    Is this one easily unlocked?
Looks great but I don't use AT&T Go Phone, I would like to stick my T~Mobile SIM in it if it was easily unlockable.

Probably why they are selling them so inexpensively, can't get them unlocked.
It really really looks like a nice device.
At that price if i could use it on T~Mobile I would order this so fast.

I ordered one 3 weeks ago from the AT&T website. Got it for $30 by picking the Simple Rate Plan and removed the $25 refill card from the cart. Phone took about 1 week to arrive. When I unboxed it, the phone looked like it was completely new. No scratches, marks, or finger prints of any kind. It came preactivated with a phone number, however I removed the GoPhone SIM right away, before even powering it up. I am going to use it on a post-paid account, so I purchased a new post-paid AT&T SIM for $1 from eBay. I am adding a $10 line to my family plan and giving the phone to my pre-teen daughter as a gift in January. I have tested it out with my iPhone SIM, and the phone works just fine.

Reason for buying this phone: Cheap, 3G, camera, good for texting, supposedly works with AT&T Family Map, and did I mention cheap? It is the cheapest 3G phone available. It is important that it be 3G, because I live in a Verizon to AT&T conversion market (SW MN) where supposedly, the new Verizon to AT&T converted towers will be UMTS only (no GSM).

^ I did the exact same thing as far as ordering the bare minimum simply as a replacement phone. When you ordered it, did it include free 2-day Priority shipping? I'm hoping to get mine by Tues of next week...

Yes, it included the free 2 Day Priority shipping. However it took a couple of days before it actually shipped, probably because I ordered it on a Saturday. Shipped on a Monday, then 2 days in shipping, so it was received on a Wednesday.

They keep trying to tempt me with that one.

    Is the camera any good?
If only this one was on T~Mobile.
    Or easily unlocked.

a few weeks ago, nobody can unlock at&t pantech link. Now, there are a few vendors at Ebay that will unlock link. They claim refurbs cannot be unlocked, but it will depend on the definition of refurbs. If they are just cleaned up, I see no reason to believe that claim..
