If T-Mobile doesn't mess around with the OS (removing features and/or adding T-Mobile craps), then portable WiFi hotspot is included as a feature of Android OS 2.2 (FroYo).
I think T-Mobile will leave mobile hotspot alone because it gives customers more conveience to gain 3G access for laptop even mobile UMA.
Even though T-Mobile doesn't provide support through CS or TS for tethering, support is provided from the official forum, and allow customers to tether with smartphones (there are TONs of evidence).
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9700/5.0.0.862 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
Given that they do support tethering (although not officially) I don't see why they'd block wifi hotspot. Maybe they won't include an app for it and you'll have to go download one, but I'm sure they aren't going to block it.
I think its going to support it since they phone is running vanilla android. I'd affine to her on a stock build you have to have all features enabled
I have the G2 and there is no wifi tethering capability. Really a bummer. TMO is not playing nice with root access either. C'mon TMO we want wifi tethering and root access. Hanging on to my N1 until tethering is working on the G2. Heck even the Slide has wifi tethering.
Unplugged Since 1999
I talked with corp store supervisor. He said the forthcoming Android phones will have both wifi calling and mobile hotspot (hopefully he doesn't mix up with both). However, we should take it with a little grain of salt until it becomes real.
It does not come with it. But you can download tethering apps from market (pdanetor easy tether).
I use pda net on all my android devices.
My speed on my t-mobile G2!!!
Is it possible a carrier to put in virus/worm to remote "wipe" your computer if the customer tries to tether on wrong internet option?
